Wright 6400 rachet rebuild question

I picked up a Wright 6400 3/4" drive rachet today in a lot of items at a auction. The rachet is missing its internals and I was wondering if a rebuild kit from Wright contains the actual drive head or just a the pawls. I will contact Wright next week and see but was wondering if anyone here knew.

Last one I bought from them, for a tootsie-roll 3/8" it was the entire guts. Not cheap.

Throw it in the scrap or make a beater bar or something. The kits are more than a good used ratchet

Just a head's up. I had a 1" drive wright ratchet. 8400. Stripped pawl. Ordered a repair kit, and the kit did not match my head. The older 8400 were a 60 tooth, the new kit was for a 45 tooth.

Wright ended up sending me a whole new ratchet, they had no kits for the 60 tooth. What a great company!

Anyways,

It would be worth your time to count teeth in the head and make sure what you have before ordering. According to the web, the new 3/4" are 45 teeth.

I do not know if the 3/4" drive had different teeth counts from different era's or not, I just know that my 1" did.

I do have a wright 6425 which is the 3/4" drive 42" long ratchet, and its a great ratchet. Well worth the cost of the kit.

It looks like mine will not really be worth fixing considering the kit is $65 and I don't really need the ratchet. I will still give Wright a call on the off chance it is cheaper from them directly.

In my case, it was a sentimental issue, I got the Wright 3/8" socket set for my 16th birthday, I asked for it to work on the family '62 VW Bug convertible we bought new.which I learned to drive a manual transmission in. Yes, you can probably buy one used cheaper, if you need it.

My set is > 50 years old.
