Wright Grip 2 vs. Williams Super Combo?

TIA There's not much recent info in the archives comparing the Wright Tool Wright Grip 2 [752] to the Williams Super Combo [MWS-15A]. I'm thinking of upgrading my metric combination wrenches, and landed on these two sets. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I would go with the Wright's. I have an older set of Williams SC's and they're OK, with the smaller sizes (below 1/2" spreading on the open end.

Both wrenches will serve you well. If you prefer a long pattern wrench opt for the supercombos. If you're happy with a standard length wrench, the Wrights are great too.

That's what has me leaning towards the Super Combos, but reading the older reviews there were some complaints about QC, and them spreading. Then I say if they're spreading they should be using the box end of the wrench, and if the quality is bad let the company know and they'll replace the wrench/wrenches in question......Thanks for the replies, keep them coming.

I bought both and stuck with the Wrights. The Super Combos were nice and I liked that they were a little longer but the finish has some small issues and I'd read about the jaws spreading on the smaller sizes.

The Wright wrenches performed perfectly on 30 year old rusty stuck BMW fasteners that I couldn't reach with an impact. The open ends really don't let go and I've been very happy with them, just wish they made a long pattern version.

You cannot always use the box end for every application.

Furthermore, I went to my Snap-On 4 angle wrench on the same fastener and it didn't spread when it broke free. Why is that? And spreading of different wrenches was with multiple fasteners spread over several years, not a one and done.

After talking with a good friend I decided to go in a completely different direction. I went with Hazet 600SPC/16 Combination Wrench Set, from Amazon DE. It cost a little more, but I think it was a wise choice. Thanks for the replies.

What were the deciding factors that lead you to chose the Hazet wrenches? Looking to purchase a 2nd set myself and have been leaning toward Wright Grip2 but haven't purchased yet. Thanks.

My buddy knows me, I'm a perfectionist, and he knows tools. He was trained in Germany as a mechanic and has about 45 years of experience working with these tools. He said they're all good tools, but the Wright Grip2 will mark up tight fasteners that can end up rusting, that would drive me nuts. The Super Combos can spread in the smaller sizes, and are a bit thick. The Hazet wrenches address concerns, and are longer than US made Craftsman [for example], and I wanted something a little longer than them.

Having said that, as I mentioned earlier, they're all good tools, but for my concerns he felt Hazet was the better choice for me.

You can get Super Combos with Ratcheting ends if that makes any difference to you.

No experience with the supercombo, but I have the Wright in both sae and metric. They are pretty much my favorite wrenches.

I've got mostly snap-on combos at work with some craftsman for some of the bigger sizes. If I decided to get higher end combos for at home, I think I'd go with the long SK wrenches
