Yeah, in all fairness the naming thing is a mess in part because of snap-on. But all of their sizes are self-referential and not objective as well.
Mini=stubby pattern
Short=medium pattern
Regular=long pattern
XL="extra" long pattern
So a snap on is one size higher, in part because they 4x sizes not 2x. Other places have subby, regular, long only (no XL)...which makes more sense as to why people call "long pattern" a long wrench, regardless of who makes it.
Europeans tend to have two sizes, (eg hazet, stahlwille, bahco/belzer)
regular = medium pattern
Long = long pattern
So again, the long pattern is the 'long wrench'.
Wright is the odd duck because their "long" is just a "not stubby"--
and as a size stuck in tween regular and long pattern standards.
This tends to infuriate people's expectations.
Nothing wrong with the wrenches tho.
