Wright Tool 10 point sockets

I was going to bid on some Wright 10 point sockets on ebay. I emailed the seller and asked and he stated they were stamped 10 point. I asked to count them and if they were actually 10 point I would take all of them he emailed back and they sounded like the description in the link. Does anyone have a picture or a better description.

tell him to take some pics of the business end of the sockets. I saw the listings you're referring to, and for some reason he only took pics of the drive end.

They used to make them don't know if they still do, they were made for six point or square nuts. I have a few at work. They look like a six point socket with four little knotches to accept a square nut.

I'm not sure how well a 10 point socket works on a 6 or 4 point fastener, but I'm sure they work great on fire hydrants, water meters, and anything else the utility board doesn't want the general public tampering with.

they are not double five point sockets like the five point cover nuts on the above listed items.

I wonder if they were Wrights Spline sockets? NM... Even the Wright spline have more than 1o points.

These are 1957 sockets designed to fit both hex and square nuts.

Wright still produced them in the 1970's maybe even early 80's.
The 10 point socket was used for set screws,lag screws,drain and pipe plugs.
The 10 point sockets worked on both hex and square nuts and bolts as they provided full bearing and a snug fit on both types of fasteners.

I have a set of these. They get a lot of use pulling out square drain plugs on our center pivot gear boxes. Way nicer to remove the plugs than dealing with the slop of a crescent.

I have bought quite a bit of stuff from that seller, He purchased a large lot of NOS stuff and has been pedaling it on ebay for some time. I would venture to say that they are Probably NEW but Old Stock.

The date codes are not all the same and the 1-1/8 is cracked. In the original tray.

It's the first time I've heard of these. In the past I have heard several people say Wright made Armstrong sockets.

Easiest way is to take a pic on your phone, then log onto this site. When you reply to a post there is option to "go advanced" click that then click manage attachments. Now click "choose file" and pick the picture. Then click upload. Wait for it to upload. Then just x out and come back to original reply screen and it will be attached. You must write something in reply section. That was done out of memory. I think it's right. Now, you can do that same procedure on your computer. I usually take pics with my phone, then email them to myself and open on the laptop. There are different apps and ****, but I don't like them. iPhones will only allow you to upload one picture at a time per post. Its weird. Any other phone works. That's why people download photobucket and tapatalk. Again none of which I like. There is also a section to test pictures and figure out how it works.

Negative. Armstrong was its own independent brand, at some point it got bought up by the Danaher/Apex Tool conglomerate.

Wright did make tools for Montgomery Ward under the Powr-Kraft brand. I have a 1/2" drive Powr-Kraft ratchet that is just a Wright with another name stamped on it.

Why have so many people put them on eBay saying Armstrong Wright sockets?
