Hi,

I've been on a big Wright tool binge lately. I especially love the contour grip ratchets and flex handles. As of right now, I have every single contour grip they make in 1/4" and 3/8" drive, with plans to purchase in 1/2" down the road.

It was rather odd to me that they offer 1/4" drive in contour grip only, including the flex head, and then mix the 3/8" and 1/2" drive with contour and knurled grip. I like the knurled grip as well, but I like the contour grip more.

I gave Wright a ring this morning to see if there were any updates on the Metric Wright grip wrenches (no), and asked about the possibility of making a 3/8" contour grip flex head, to match the 1/4" version. It would be really easy because they could be made with existing parts.

So, I have a couple questions for Wright owners:

Do you prefer the Contour or Knurled grip, or both?

Would you be interested in a 3/8" flex head in contour grip?

This is just curiosity, as the guy on the phone said that he'd never gotten a request for this, but I know that quite a few Wright users really love the contour grip ratchets. I wonder if the reason is that nobody ever really considered that they'd want one?

The thing is, I have a contour flex handle and a knurled flex head, and they are interchangeable as far as the pivot goes. It wouldn't require any tooling on Wrights end, only a new stamp and part number.

One thing I do know, is that Wright's double pawl ratchets are freaking awesome, and a 3/8" drive double pawl long handle flex head in full polish contour grip would be about the most freaking amazing ratchet I could imagine.

I've only recently bought some Wright, but I just placed another order this week. In general, I think they are a great value and very high quality.

I have a contour grip on order, will have to let you know about that.

I own all sockets....no ratchets but I added a large collection to my toolbox and the fit and finish is great!

On the farm, we have some old skool (70s-80s vintage) wright nitrile comfort grip ratchets and breaker bars. They get used a TON and in my opinion, they are awesome.

I've also bought a bunch of Wright impact sockets in the past 10 years and in my opinion, they are just as good, if not better than my Mac and Snap-On impact sockets.

Around here, Farm and Fleet used to sell Wright tools. They don't anymore, but I wish they still did.

Once I get a job, I think I'm going to be placing quite a large Wright order :)

Large enough to require a spreadsheet I've been working on :D

I only have the knurled in each size, so all I can say is I am really impressed with those! As far as the contour grip, it will have to wait a while since I've been burning up the Classifieds by buying everybody's Wright stuff they have for sale...

Anything bigger than 1/4", I prefer the knurled handle.

Could you tell me the reason why?

(not confrontational/argumentative, just pure curiosity)

I actually really liked the knurled grip 3/8" flex handle that came with the socket set that I purchased from you, but not as much as the 3/8" contour grip I had, so I sold it.

I can see the attraction of them I suppose, the knurling is just the right depth to be grippy without being uncomfortable, and the round handle is pretty comfy, just not as comfy as the contour grip IMO.
