its a legitimate question I am just saying the arguing that was going on was not helpful.

Just having a Discussion about tools, I wouldnt classify it as "Arguing" Just a difference of Opinion.. Geez...

If the OP feels he missed out on some valuable information, I know there is at least 5 of the "Wright or SK Wrench Sets" threads floating around.

I have been looking around pawn shops here and there, nothing of interest yet though. I'm not in a rush, if I have to wait for a deal to show up I will. I'm not aware of any CT dealers other than the Big 3 trucks. I'm located around the Danbury area, western CT.

I was mainly interested in the SK/Wright/Williams because <$150 for a set of 15 or so wrenches was really tempting. I like my Truck Tools but the $400-500 price tags on some of these sets isn't worth it to me. I do appreciate the replies though...I certainly wasn't expecting to see a 5 page thread when I got off from work :lol_hitti

If you were closer to Windsor/Hartford or the Northeast corner of the state, I would have shown you my reasons for not buying Williams.....chrome peeling & flaking off and the spreading of the open end compared to the other brands.

Watch the classifies on GJ, good deals are always out there.

if I was the op I would respond sorry I asked at this point in the thread.

They are just wrenches either set will be fine.

+1 !! I'm sure you will be more than happy with Wright, Williams, SK or Proto! It's mostly a personal preference with these four. Epstein offers good on-line pricing.

This thread is getting out of control !!

For the Op... You can find retailers in you Area by utilizing the "find retailers" link on both the Sk and Wright website, With that said Harry epsteins is hard to beat on prices outside of ebay/classifieds.

I used the function on SK's website and it only showed Grainger as being a retailer ANYWHERE near me. Grainger does not have any SK displays at the store close to me. I got a PM from another garage journal member about a local tool supplier that had a large stock of SK so I checked them out and low and behold they had a really good stock of almost anything SK! So in a nutshell these retailer searches are not always accurate.

Hmmm.. Shows 6 within 100 miles of me, must be a Washington thing.. Lol I'd be willing to bet grainger "Will Not" be the cheapest place to buy Sk tools..

My Local Napa has a very few amount of s&k tools in stock but can order their entire line.

This will vary from depending upon the napa dealer

I deal with buying tools form all brands on an industrial scale at work. And I have seen issues with sk besides the chip chrome.

SK fans dont seem to be able to accept any criticism of their tools.
I missed your criticism of their tools outside of chrome flaking. Any other anecdotal stories?

I know I bought some sockets in 2002 or so which had extremely minor flaws on a few, but it hasn't prevented the chrome from sticking to the socket as a whole or the flaw areas in particular.

So in a nutshell these retailer searches are not always accurate.
I found a seller of SK and other tools kinda near me when I was searching for a non-tool supplier purpose. That's too bad SK as a subsidiary of Ideal hasn't found a way for the retailer list to be updated / make it's way to the site. I bet contact of SK would be slightly fruitful above and beyond their web search.

It does the same thing for the Memphis area. I think I had to up the distance to 200+ miles to get a dealer that wasn't Grainger. Needless to say their dealer locator probably needs some work.

It may be Working Just Fine.. You guys need to remember that SK is Most Recently back on there Feet... One of the Downfalls to the Previous SK ownership was that they didnt have consumer outlets all across American, The Reasoning for that was because the Ownership before them screwed over alot of your Auto part stores that used to carry the SK line in regards to Warranty Reimbursement/Product Replacement. I believe that Ideal with the Dealer Network they had in place will eventually fill those voids, but its gonna take time. I cant say for Certain that the "Find a Retailer" is 100% Correct or Updated on a Daily basis, But i bet a simple phone call into SK would get you where you needed to be.

I'm genuinely surprised that for the second night in a row I have come home and found this thread still going. I'm not sure If I learned much but I sure was entertained.
