Latest railing project for the top of a staircase. It will have three panels, the middle one will be smaller and a different design flank by two panels like this one.
Parts by king. Rustic welding by me.

Right now just bare metal. The plan right now, going to Spray paint brown then dry brush it to give rustic look. My wife does the artsy painting, I just spray and turn it over to her.

The guard dog, Chevy says, (French bulldog + French name, Chevrolet + car nuts = Chevy, dog name) You looking at me?? :p She was just mad because she was on a set command.

A local blacksmith told me there is virtually no such thing as wrought iron anymore. He said it's all just mild steel made to look like the older stuff.

True?

That is true, Wrought iron is just a generic term for the look. I think what they call it now is Architectural Metals.

I really like your panels. Wrought iron is one of the things I would like to be able to do. I don't really know where to start.

Jamie get on King metal web site, they have a idea and a product catalogs. Then just weld it together, you don't have to be great welder, poor welds adds to the rustic look.:lol_hitti

I was thinking about doing this for a dog kennel instead of chain link fence. I was going to do it on the side of my detatched garage. I need to pour a slab first.

Nothing as fancy as your though. Just straight up and down bars. Real simple.

Something like this, but without the fancy stuff.

Mine's even simpler. King finials and decorative cap for the gate. The rest is square tubing from a local supplier (that was a cheaper than King).

It was a lot of work -- but worth it.

Codes?? We don't have no stinking codes.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

No, we do, just not for that type of stuff. I live in the country.

What I' m going to do is pour a 8x12' (roughly) slab next to my garage for a dog kenel. So it's not going to be a fence or anything. Just need it to be high enough so Louie the shop dog can't jump over.

Prime and ready for paint.

You should seriously think about adding some caulking between the welded areas so that moisture won't create rust in the 'in between" zone and then distort the square profiles in the years to come. I hope my english makes sense it would be a shame that such a work could be ruined in a few years.
