Sorry, but this is sort of a rant and a WTB. I truly prefer to buy American made, but like everyone, find it difficult to determine what is American made, and made by an American company. It is also very difficult to justify some of the prices, even for used. Given that here is what I would like to do, stick with me...
I have been looking at the 72 Montezuma box (with top) like Nissan has set up. I have searched locally for a used American made model that is even close to twice the price. If anyone in the midwestern Maryland area has something like this, I want it.
Craigslist, in this area, is worthless.
As can be seen in my signature, I just finished a new barn. I have mostly low end tools now that I would like to leave in the garage and start fresh for the barn. Don't worry, I know this sounds unreasonable, but so what... I would like to start with some basic sets and move up from there. Years past, I would buy a large set from Craftsman and move on, but, seems, that isn't the case anymore. I have been looking for a starter set of US made tools at a reasonable price, but again, can't find it used for twice the price of craftsman. I don't have the time that many have to buy one socket at a time, so want to buy the set. Seems pretty rare around here.
If anyone has something close to this, in this area, I want it.
Otherwise, this spring, I am buying the Montezuma and a whole bunch of Craftsman stuff.
Somebody help...
(this is more than just a rant, I do want this stuff, so if you have something for me, let me know. If you want to rant, go for it, it really does help.)
