Wanted - Craftsman 3/8" Ratchet 43796 Reasonably priced in good condition. Please post or PM a pic.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I knew somebody would have one. What's special about that particular design? I don't own any like that.
How about $15 plus $3 shipping.

From the Stanley (import) period. No rebuild kits, but dare I say (from those who I know have them) better then the default Craftsman, but not as good as the FTRH or the sealed head ones.
If I recall correctly, these were billed as their "Polished" ratchets in their time. When I take one back broken, I've expected "Polished" in exchange, not settling for a flat panel or round head.
Rickster, is it fairly clean? It looks scratched up a little. Not trying to be picky.
The polished are a step down from the round head fine tooth. The polished are still the same guts as the typical Craftsman ratchet.
If your talking about the round head without the thumbwheel, I beg to differ.
If you are referring to the round head, fine tooth, thumb wheel, quick release version, I find it doubtful they would order in a catalog only ratchet for exchange

I have one like that in 1/4. Its a good little ratchet.
RHFT, Round head fine tooth, common abbreviation here.
The other round head, isn't a quick release, and is COURSE thread. Hence the FT part of the abbreviation.
My Sears, used to keep those down low, and they never had the hangers on them that showed tooth count. I based my tooth count knowledge there, on a friend who got one free for his junkyard box. He B&M'd about how course it was and hated the expansion joint, as it dug into a callous.
I hear them bashed often, but I have all 3 sizes, and in 1/4 drive, it is my Go-To ratchet, picking it over Matco, Snap-on and SK everytime. Made in Taiwan, IIRC.
Is this the COARSE thread round head you are referring to, listed on Sears.com as "Craftsman 1/2 in. Drive Full Polish Fine Tooth Roundhead Ratchet":

It has the same 45 tooth count as the quick release, round head, thumbwheel ratchet.
???
This is the Polished ratchet I exchange for when the Taiwan Polished ratchet that was the fore-runner to it fails:

Well I will be a SOB, and my apologies. My Sears, used to keep those down low, and they never had the hangers on them that showed tooth count. I based my tooth count knowledge there, on a friend who got one free for his junkyard box. He B&M'd about how course it was and hated the expansion joint, as it dug into a callous.
I've never even considered them as a ratchet.![]()
