Where do you guys get yours? A friend and I would like to go in together on some Motorcraft 5W-20 SynBlend since between us we have fours cars that we use it in.

Do a web search for wholesale oil distributors, or just oil distributors and you will find the ones in your area. Might take some looking to find one that sells Motorcraft

From what I have seen you don't really save much of anything, and once you factor in the freight to deliver it, it often cost more..... I typically stock up black friday, there are several places that have it on huge sales to get foot traffic. I bought 6 cases of Mobel 1 this black friday at Pep Boys for 1/2 price.

You can get it by 5g boxes from NAPA. Not saving a whole lot doing it that way.
I buy the 5 qt jugs because it practical for me. I'd hate to have another barrel sitting around. I do buy FL-820S in bulk though as the Explorer and F150 both use it. I find them at a Ford swapmeet 12/$30. Saving money on filters might be more of a cost savings than the bulk oil.

It's hard to beat WallyWorlds prices on synthetic oil. Our new Mazda uses 0-20w which isn't the easiest to find. WW has Mobil1 for $25.
I did look at Royal Purple in the 5 gallon jugs, but shipping was a deal breaker.
Where you say "bulk" have you look into 55 gallon drums?

Buy a 55 gallon drum and it's under $2 a quart....full synthetic slightly more, which is much cheaper than quarts. I purchase my oil at the blender/bottler in Worcester, Mass (Oilzum brand).

Unless you have a way to dispense oil from a drum, it's hard to justify. The savings in bulk get ate up by the dispensing method usually
You could use a drum pump and fill an old 5 qt jug? That's how I have my ****** fluid setup.

Yeah, the 5qt jugs are nice until you buy a vehicle that takes 6 qts. Both my Mazdaspeed3 and my F250 take 6 qts.

I paid $75 for a US-made Fill Rite pump 3 drums ago. Do the math, if I'm saving 50% per quart multiplied by 220 quarts (55 gallons), how much did I save? Then multiply that number by 3 for the amount of drums I've used worth of oil and that would be my total savings. Much more in savings over the $75 I spent, only once.
Sure, I have a one gallon steel dispenser, which can be gotten, if desired at swap meets, flea markets, tag sales, CL, ect; or use the plastic container method (old quart oil bottle, plastic OJ container, gallon milk container, etc. (I actually use an old quart bottle for small engines and the steel dispenser for the truck and cars).
Drums (followed by kegs) are cheapest because there is basically no packaging (bottles, cardboard boxes, caps, etc) like quart bottles.

I get all my oil at the Wholesale clubs. Costco seems to have the best deals because you can buy multiple items per single coupon but also BJs isn't all that bad either. I get 12 quarts of Shell Conventional 5W-30 for my F150 as well as my gf's car for about $25-28 a box. Depends on the coupon but thats normally when I'll load up on oil.

You dont even have to go that far with it Bob. Many shops simply lay the drum over on its side on a barrel cart or a homemade wooden cradle and use a $2 spigot. Then gravity is our friend....for once.

I've bought drums of delvac 1300 from Sam's Club. They had excellent prices at the time, and free shipping to their nearest store (assuming you have a truck to get it home). Last time I needed to buy, O'Reillys had a sale on cases of gallon jug that was cheaper. I cleaned them out.
I use manual drum pumps. I have made up fittings to put a faucet in the drum bung and done gravity feed. That can make a considerable mess if you don't get it sealed up well.

Sam's club used to sell 55 gallon drums of rotella 15-40, but it was not cheaper. I always thought that it would be a pain in the but to have a drum of bulk oil, unless that is all you use and you use it frequently. My truck takes almost 8 gallons, so I guess if I found it reasonably priced it might make sense, but then I have another drum to store.

I live in a farming community so there are several bulk dealers. I can buy pretty much any brand I want in jugs as small as a litre and as big as 55 gallon drums. . . I can buy 1000 litre cubes as well, but that's just overkill. . .

That's been my experience too... By the quart I pay $3.05, get 55 gallon drum and it drops to $2.95 a quart. And you have to manage that 55 gallon drum (load/unload, pump, etc.) which doesn't pay for the difference. I suppose were I to use that much oil in a month or so it may be cost effective, but not for what I do, which may be to do an oil change a week.

Apples to Apples brand and everything, the savings is less then 10cents a qt. Now you can buy "offbrand" oil for cheaper but then again you can buy "offbrand" oil in qt jugs for cheaper too... Most of the 19.99 oil change places around here pour out of 1qt jugs and they do 100's of cars a day, that should tell you something...

Some people's idea of bulk is pretty funny. Bulk doesn't mean a case of quart bottles or a single five quart bottle.

You might consider checking your math and local supplies a bit.
For my local stores:
55 gallon drum of Shell Rotella 15W40 at Sam's = $599....or $2.72/qt
Same oil in 5 qt jug at Autozone - $17.99....or $3.60/qt
Same oil in 1 qt jug at Autozone - $3.80
Admittedly, wrestling a drum of oil isnt very fun (engine crane makes it easy tho), it takes quite awhile to empty, and the local fire dept might see it and declare your shop unsavable....but in many instances the math works out. In this case, that 55 gallon drum saves you $237. Even buying 5 qts at a time, each 5 qt jug needs to be discounted a bit over $5 to equal the drum savings. If you buy from an oil distributor you can also likely save even more.

I have done the math also and it comes out the same. I use a drum of Rotella T a year. Saving over a dollar a quart is roughly a cost savings of $200 a year. Nothing to sneeze at in my book.
To the OP, I buy my oil from the local oil/gasoline distributor. Check the yellow pages or on-line to find out who your local oil jobbers are. My 55 gallon drums are delivered on a pallet. I have a pallet jack which makes moving it around a non-issue. I also use a crank oil spigot. The spigot cost $15 at the local army/navy store.

At my shop we are paying $2.29 for a quart of convention oil in 5w20, 5w30, and 10w30.
I never have purchased the oil in bulk and I don't even have the equipment to properly dispense it.
BTW the $2.29 is through a local commercial wholesaler. Sometimes another wholesales runs it on sale for $1.99 a quart. Autozone and the chain stores don't offer us any discount on oil besides the save 10 cents a quart if you buy a case.
