I have a two brand new Proto 1/4" drive pear heads that I could trade you. One is #4749P (chrome) and the other is 4749PBL (black). They are both brand new never used. I would be interested in trading for a 3/8" Proto ratchet, either #5249P or #5249PG. I wouldn't mind paying you a few bucks for the trade.

If I didn't have just one 3/8 proto and one plomb, I would make the trade. I am looking for the older type, that has the top of the gear head exposed, to go with the other ones that I have to make a set from 1/4-1/2. Not sure if you yours is that old or not. Here is a picture to show what the others I have look like and what I am looking for.

I guess you lost me, none of the ratchets you displayed had what I would call the gear head exposed. When I hear gear head exposed I think of the ratchets where you actually see the teeth exposed on the head of the ratchet, all of yours are sealed heads with a pear shape or design.

BTW, I have a full set of those old pebble handle Plombs like you have in 3/8" and 1/2" and I love em, nothin smoother in my book. Good Luck I hope you find one to complete the family.

Sorry can't help you there. This is the style I have and the style I would like in 3/8" either with a regular handle or one of the red grips.

What I mean is you can see the center of the gear on the older protos(flush with the top of the ratchet-because it isn't sealed, like the new proto or snapon and can get dirt in it), not the teeth, but the center moved as you turned the ratchet. The old snap on's with out a dust cover where the same, and the protos in the pictures above are the same, that is what I am looking for in a proto 1/4 body or I would take another set of plomb also. Sorry my proto are older than what I have and I do actually like that style, but working on getting a complete set of the older stuff first.
