I'm looking for a few RHFT ratchets by easco, kd, allen, or any other that uses the same head except the craftsman version. I just dont like the handle on the craftsmans. I'm looking for 1/4", 3/8" flex head, and 1/2" flex or fixed.

Thanks, Tim

I still have a Penncraft 1/2 dr fixed head.
PowderKeg tells me that New Britain made these & that they have a reliable ratchet mechanism. Has a smooth fine tooth gear.
I'd like to get $18.00 shipped within the USA

That's a different design altogether. Not necessarily a bad design, just not what I would consider a proper RHFT ratchet. I'm under the impression that gut kits for these NB ratchets do not exist, unlike the Easco-style RHFT's which are readily available.

Surely somebody wants to part with a few...

He substantially reduced his chances of getting that ratchet used by ruling out the Craftsmans. Likely 5or 6 Craftsman RHFT ratchets to every one of the others out there floating around. I wish him well in his search.

My Eascos and whatnot far outnumber the Craftsman RHFTs in my personal accumulation of ratchets, but it didn't happen overnight. O'Reilly's sells the K-D variant, it would be quickest to just march in your local store and buy one. Their pricing is MUCH cheaper than NAPA's prices.

Dave, is this something they stock? Are they on the shelves or in the back?

I only have one Craftsman in each drive, and I have encountered very few of them used in my travels through the years, perhaps I am wrong but I would have figured many more Craftsman ones out there than other brands.

Dave, I just looked at Oreilly's website. They 1/4" says not available, 3/8" is $33.99, they 1/2" drive 10 1/2" long is $50.99, and the 1/2" drive 15" lonng is $61.99. I fell like those prices are pretty high.

They have them hanging behind the counter. The 3/8 long flex I bought this week showed a list of $45.99, they charged me $31.99. I'm not a commercial customer or anything, I just walked in and bought it.

Be aware, too that the K-D flex head has a highly polished handle and shank, unlike the matte finished Allen and NAPA.

NAPA, on the other hand, got me for $35.99 for a standard 1/4inch model the week prior. That's silly, but I wanted at least one marked with NAPA, just to say I had one.

Sounds like a good deal Dave. I will check it out tomorrow. Do you have the part number for that one?

I'm under the impression that the Armstrongs used to have the generic Allen/K-D handle design, and the full-polish Armstrong handle is a new thing. Don't take that as absolute truth, it's just my belief.

That pic on MSC's site isn't even this type of ratchet, it looks like there is a thumbwheel on the reverse-lever side. Given that you don't like the C-Man handle, be careful of the Armstrong version, I think the handle may feel awfully similar to the C-Man.

Its interesting to see all the variants of this type of ratchet; I had no clue that so many OEM type ratchets were marketed under so many companies names! I wonder if Danaher makes these for all the other companies or if some are making them under license from Danaher? Regardless, finding a rebuild kit shouldn't be a problem no matter what brand you have, being afraid Craftsman will stop making them seems to have no factual merit, unless this is a sign that Danaher is discontinuing the design for everyone. The fact that everyone else seems to continue to sell their similar design; would indicate that they are not going away any time soon. I think the handles on the other brands are mare attractive then the Craftsman raised panel design, anyway... if Sears stops selling their version of the ratchet.

I really think that Danaher makes an effort to distinguish the Armstrong brand as their TOTL, compared to everything else they make?
Could be just marketing, but I don't think so?
All the Armstrong gear I've used, have been built like tanks.

sk farmer, I just prefer the Easco-style design, and have 10 or more of them. I didn't know that the Ridgid-marked ones even existed, so now I'm on a mission to find another Ridgid.
