Hey guys,
I’m looking to fill a very specific, tough gap on my vintage Herbrand socket rail. I am hunting down a 57/64" 1/2" drive deep socket made by Herbrand, explicitly engineered for early Buick straight-six/straight-eight overhead valve spark plug service.
I am looking for:
The version stamped with the explicit "Buick" moniker.
The cataloged version stamped DS-28B (either the classic "Van-Chrome" version or the wartime cadmium-plated version with the Tommy/cross-bar holes not sure if both had the Buick moniker).
As a professional mobile tech, I have a deep appreciation for the old Fremont, Ohio craftsmanship and want to make sure this piece goes to a rail where it’ll be properly cared for (not flipped). I’m looking for an example with healthy broaching, uncracked walls, and legible roll-stamps. Original finish wear or patina is completely fine, but I prefer it unground and unmodified. (Also any corrections to the accuracy of my post or knowledge you can share is greatly appreciated!)
If you have one sitting in a spare socket drawer, a duplicate pile, or a stash you’d be willing to part with, please shoot me a PM with a couple of pictures and your asking price shipped to Arizona.
Appreciate any leads! Thanks.
