This was in my Fathers tool box I dont have a clue it says star on the end that is all i know.

I have a cold chisel which has an orange hand guard that looks just like that.
Is that nail looking thing tempered and does it look like it took some hammering on the end?

That is used to drive masonry fasteners. Fastener goes in the more pointed end. Hold it around the round part and strike the protrusion that is just above the hand shield. I believe some similar ones were also made to hold a fastener and a .22 cal charge to drive it. I can't tell more becasue the photos are not close enough-but this should get you started.

That would be great for hand driving the short fasteners that are sold for the .22 guns. Faster and cheaper. Well, faster than a single shot with load. You can't beat those strip guns.

THe hole that the pin goes in is around 1/4 in i trid ramset nails to big
