Don't know what the model is like outside of the US, but within, they do have "reps" that will visit you to allow you to order. I got a rep to come out every few months and I've been very much pleased with some of their product.

Where is Wurth's tools made?

I believe some of it is determined by market, but in the US, I've seen US and German tools. Some Germany, though (from my own experience) a lot of US consumables (like abrasives, clamps, etc). Some Swedish clamps (ABA), and some "EU" electrical connectors (which I like).

I believe more of the chemicals (at least for the Southern Calif market) are unfortunately US rather than EU but a lot of the EU stuff is pretty good, and I know Germany has or is getting a lot tougher on environmental regs, but they seem to be coming up with some good solutions.

Where is Wurth's tools made?

Depends on what you are talking about ?? Hand tools (which ?) electric tools, air tools, etc. Electric tools for example are supplied by Bosch, Fein, Metabo, Suhner, Techtronics (AEG + Milwaukee), Flex, Kärcher, Dewalt - so a wide variety with different COO´s.

Wurth makes metal fasteners. Everything else is outsourced..........

Elroy deals with two Wurth facilities (Adams & Snider) on a regular basis and have yet to see any fasteners supplied by them to be made by them. Elroy thinks it's safe to say Wurth is purely a diversified distributor.

If you had a special application they would make recommendations and source the manufacturing for you. They're simply middlemen with contacts

Just a riff off your post:

I don't know if they "make" anything "themselves" or not, but I do think their model is very useful to shops, esp. those that don't have the resources or don't want to devote said resources to inventory management. The more I look at it, and talk to the rep that swings by our place every so often, the more I think it's a useful service for shops. I know they've got about 4 tiers of pricing (maybe more), but I'm not sure that you'd save any more buy going to McMaster or the like. For quality automotive supplies, I think they've got it arranged right too. I like their business model.

Würth owns several companies which manufactures screws and other things for example: www.reisser-screws.com

a list of companies/factories + branches they own:
http://www.wuerth.com/web/en/wuerthcom/wrthweltweit/wrthweltweit_1/groupaddresses.php
(btw. the Wurth owner is the 7th richest german :))

Thanks for the clarification Monte.

Hey guys Ill do my best to answer all your questions.

Wurth does manufacture some items, it would be impossible for me to outline all of them.

What I can say is that if you buy an item from Wurth, weather it’s made by Wurth or one of our suppliers, you can expect a product that is held to the highest standards.

Currently we operate in 88 different countries with 420 different companies.

Kent Automotive is not a Wurth company, there actually a competitor.
