that is a HECK of a lot of money!!!
I am guessing Wyotech went out of business, i heard a while back that they were having trouble.
I want to be the auctioneer for that. Posting says they are getting 18% on that sale.![]()
That's your guess?
What are the other options, they are auctioning off every single thing they possess and starting from scratch for shits and grins?![]()

As hard as I tried, I got outbid on everything I was interested in by a long ways... and I tried hard!
You ever got the feeling there was a team of shills working for the executors?
I'm about an hour away from there. Although I'm intrigued, I gotta say I'm having mixed feelings about those prices.
It's really 18% + 9.5% for the local sales tax.
As for the Wyotech auctions, they had one this week at the Long Beach campus (online) and I thought there were many things worth going after. Unfortunately, it's being hit by just about every reseller on Ebay/Craigslist and the bids went sky high silly with sniping at the last minute. Throw in 18% plus CA sales tax and the money was just plain nuts.

Wyotech were owned by Corinthian Colleges which were basically shut down by the Gov't due to a number of reasons.

Good for the auctioneers I guess, they created the feeding frenzy, stupid on people who lost their senses on things that sell much cheaper on ebay.

it was shut down because like many for-profit schools, they basically lied to everyone about job placement numbers and encouraged everyone to take out large student loans, and even preyed on veterans for their loan opportunities, knowing that most of their students would never get a job.. this is one reason why i dont like snap on, cause MANY of the loans are taken out to buy snap on tools.. the schools were operated in a way to place people in as much debt as possible by making promises of high paying careers. the entire school system was a scam.

I am about an hour away from there and am tempted.. But @18% buyers premium and 10% CA sales tax nah...
How does the buyer's premium and sales tax effect the price you're willing to pay?

Lets say he's willing to pay $100 for an item all said an done. That's a maximum bid of $78 with 27% in fees. I have to imagine a number of bidders aren't taking that into account and will bid up what the actual item is worth, then be stuck with the fees and pay an inflated price.
wyotech - never met a kid that went there that actually knew how to work on cars
well, you probably will get a lift cheaper near where you live if you watch craigslist.
The lifts went crazy, I can't remember exactly how much now, but let's say they go for at least what you get them for on craigslist, plus i'm guessing shipping would be say $800 plus.
The Hunter alignment racks with the 600 system sold for over $10k!!! Each one of them.
Hunter Balancers went for over 1500 and the hunter tire machines went for over 2000 then add the fees and taxes - you can do better watching local auctions and CL
The prices didn't look too bad right up to the last hour...then the silliness started.
Hunter scissor alignment racks are 25k. An alignment machine is 10-23k depending on model and option
Balancers are 3500-7000
That's great prices assuming stuff was taken care of. I'm willing to bet it wasn't used much either
Yeah, those are reasonable prices but would you buy stuff on that price range sight unseen (only on pics), as is though?
Don't just blame the schools blame the companies that want degrees for even the most basic job, by adding engineer or such to the end of a job title, used to be assembly supervisior jobs making 50k now they are assembly engineers making 45k and require a 100k degree to do the same job

Corinthian Colleges was caught using fraudulent lending practices. They either sold off or shut down their schools. In January they sold of the Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Florida Wyotech campuses. They could not sell the California campuses as there was still litigation happening in CA. So Wyotech still exists and is now a non-profit school.
Another problem with this particular auction for the Snap On stuff or resale inclined is that the tools are more than likely marked with the school's laser etching. People don't realize that they are likely not able to get those tools warrantied and the resale value isnt the same.
So if you're gonna get the stuff for a little over street used price, might as well get ones that "can" be warrantied.
