Xcelite collection - Anyone interested?

Hey guys,

I recently purchased my first big toolbox (costco CSPS). So, I have been cleaning out my smaller old boxes and trying to be realistic about which tools I may not need. When my grandfather passed, I was gifted some of his trusty tools. He was an electrician at Motorolla for many years and had a few specialty tools.

One of the items I have never used is this Xcelite set. I got to thinking that maybe someone on this forum may have a need for these tools more so than myself... If this set is something that you are interested in, or know someone who may be interested in it... Please speak up. My grandfather would love to know that they went to use more so than sat in my toolbox. After all, tools are meant to be used and enjoyed. Perhaps we could work a trade for some items that you no longer need or use?

Tools I am on the hunt for:
- Metric wrenches size 17mm and larger
- Proto SAE wrenches - My grandfather left me a partial set, looking for sizes to fill set.
- Quality sockets that will help fill my racks shown below:

pretty fabulous Xcelite collection there!

you would do well to check "SOLD" listings on Ebay on Xcelite items. some complete sets command respectable prices.

Thanks Four.Cycle, I suppose I could probably list them on Ebay and then just buy tools that I need with the proceeds. However, I really enjoy this forum and since the tools belonged to my grandfather it would feel more personal to get them into the hands of a fellow member here

I appreciate the suggestion though, if this doesn't work out I may just hang on to them. They don't take up a ton of space when packed up neatly.

I'm suggesting you look at Ebay "SOLD" listings to get a better idea of what people are willing to pay for those sets, not necessarily suggesting that you should try to sell them on Ebay.
There's a reason I do not own any Xcelite: it's too damn expensive on Ebay, particularly if they are complete, intact sets. I've had more than a few on my "watch list" and let them go by after watching them get bid up to stupid money.

;)

I hear ya, I just looked on Ebay like you suggested and they ar probably worth more than I had guessed. Hopefully I can find a fair trade offer or sale price from a member here. I haven't used the private message feature much and just realized that I have a few messages regarding the set :)

I'll bet you do. ;)

I've looked at a LOT of Xcelite sets on Ebay and I've never seen that many all at once.
More importantly, it looks as though Grandpa took good care of his tools.

EDIT:
Okay.... I never saw that many all at once until I looked at this thread:
