XL Quick Vise

I picked up this vise yesterday and can’t find anything on the internet about it. Just wondering if anyone knows anything? I’m not sure whether it’s British or American. I’ve posted it in a couple of Facebook groups but as yet still a bit of a mystery. Many thanks

It looks all British to me and resembles a Parkinson "Quick Release" vise. The "size 1" would indicate a 3" wide jaw vise, if it is in fact a British vise.

Either way, it's a fantastic find! Hopefully, others will chime in with some definitive information about your mystery vise.

Hi, thanks for the comments. I was wondering if it’s a Parkinson because I know they used the spelling Vise and not Vice on their woodwork ones. The jaws are 4 inches and it weighs 50lbs. The slide looks American, but it’s still a mystery. Photo attached of the quick release lever which I discovered underneath the screw this morning. I still can’t find anything like it on the internet. I’ll be stripping it down and painting in the Parkinson red I bought a couple of weeks ago for a woodwork one of theirs. I picked up two very early Record 52E (1918 design) vices at the same auction, all were next to each other so probably from the same workshop. Not a bad buy at £40 for all three
