Hi all on The Journal,
I would like to share pictures of my soon to be retirement home and the garage addition that was added and completed recently.
My house is near Titusville, FL and the planning stage has taken about one and a half years with some redesign, cost adjustments, etc... My Architect, Jason Kelly of Digital Design did a fantastic job blending the large garage with the rest of the house.
The contractor, Don Human of Titusville Construction did a super job, with much attention to detail, to bring this all together.
The two, two car garage doors are 18' wide, wind and impact resistant to 140 mph. The roof shingles are good to 130 mph. The walls are 2 x 6" studs on 16" centers with many metal straps holding the trusses to the walls.
The front garage is the 'show' area that leads into the work and car lift garage, that leads into the original two car garage. There is plenty of space for equipment and tools, and no crowding between the cars.
The show area will get a chair rail and crown molding at some point. I will be setting up a corner with a table and chairs, and a crystal chandelier above.
Here are pix that take you through the construction phases.
