So the guy I hired to finish off my garage just put this Xtreme 66™ Polyaspartic Coating over the metallic epoxy system that was put down. Unfortunately he did not do what I told him or what the directions said. My kit came with 2 gallons of part A and 2 gallons of part B. I told him to mix all four gallons together and apply them. He instead mixed only a 1:1 ratio of half the kit and did not open the other half. He said the clear was really thin like water (he was expecting it to be thicker and he said he didn't even use all of the first kit... even though the directions say for no waste). My floor is about 675 sqft and only half the kit is good for 364 sqft according to the instructions. I have roller marks in it now and I also have a few foot marks from someone not wearing spiked shoes.
I want my floor to be as strong and as durable as possible as well as glossy. We did not install the grit because I wanted the floor to be glossy. I would like to use the remaining Part A and Part B mixture but don't know if I will be able to put it over the top of the existing clear or will some preparation need to be done to it? Will putting a second clear on top eliminate roller marks if I make sure that the product is back rolled after being put down?
After I explained this to my contractor he said that on Sunday (4-5 days from now) that he would scuff it up and put the remaining mixture on it with some of the grit. First off I really don't want the grit and secondly would waiting that many days be too long to put a second clear coat on it and thirdly would scuffing it up take away the majority of the clear that is already on there? I don't want half the clear that was supposed to be on the floor in the first place.. very frustrating.
