XY Table from "Ralmike's"?

Hey guys,

A local member directed me to this excellent XY table which I picked up this past weekend. It's got a 9x9" footprint and easily weighs over 75 pounds. The best I can figure it's probably from the early 70's and probably USA made.

I put it right to work (making slow speed pulleys, of course) and it's a pleasure to use. The only thing I want to fix is that the top slide direction has some slack in the screw. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to correct this? Any other info or ideas about this tool would be appreciated as well!

About all conventional tables will have some degree of backlash.
Something one has to learn to live with.

Are you milling on a drill press?

It's quite loose, easily 30 thousands or more. The other slide direction feel right with about 3 thou of lash.

No, I'm not doing any milling on my drill press. Just using it as a positioning table.
