Xylene to Resolve White Spot on Driveway

My driveway was painted four years ago with a solvent based acrylic basecoat with contrasting color dots sputtered on and a clear solvent topcoat. There are two small, subtle white haze spots, each about 3 inches in size that cannot be removed by scrubbing with a cleaner. I understand that these spots may be trapped water vapor that can be released using Xylene. Before I do that I want to make sure that the solvent will not cause the color dots to liquefy to the point that they will enlarge or run. Is a brush application the correct method?

Xylene may change the appearance of, or soften your "clear solvent topcoat". Not knowing what that it is, there is no way to say. I'd suggest applying it to an inconspicuous area to test. If you can't do that, contact manufacturer, or check their product data sheet online of clear top and see if it resists xylene. A lot of manufacturers test with MEK, which is a bit more brutal than xylene

Benwah is on the money, always test the potential remedy in a less noticeable spot.
This is an acceptable remedy to help straighten out many solvent based acrylics.

If it's not a true solvent based acrylic the solvent will melt the coating like a styro-foam cup with gas in it.

Thanks for your comments. I don't know what brand the contractor used, and I can't find out because he is no longer in business. I tested the coating using alcohol and acetone and there was no effect which is why I believe it is solvent based. Most, if not all of the topcoat has worn away over 4 years of Florida weather such that there is no water beading. So, I am not concerned about the topcoat. Its the decorative paint that concerns me. Has anyone on the forum applied Xylene to a decorative coating to resolve trapped water vapor issues?
