I really like the cman I got which had like a $5 sticker on the $40 some dollar rake.

Of course, I just end up mowing over/mulching the few that end up on the lawn.

You guys are lazy. haha

I'm talking about the ones with handles for those of us that don't mind a little manual labor.

I have a large yard and a LOT of trees. I use a walk behind blower for most of it, but when I have to move a pile of leaves I like the GreenThumb 30" plastic rakes from True Value. They have a nice curve to them that lets you get some power behind the stroke. Of course, like all new rakes today, the handles aren't as sturdy as they used to be. That's true no matter the brand.

Don't buy the cheap bamboo rakes. When I worked at the hardware store we had about a 65% return rate because the handles would break as soon as the customer got it home. We stopped selling them.

I'd love to find a decent metal rake. My parents have a few that have lasted 25-30 years and counting but I can't seem to get one to last 2-3.

Manuel Labor is the name of the guy who maintains the grounds around my apartment. Says so right on his ball cap.

I bought one of these four years ago. My old rake broke late in the leaf season, so I ran to get a new one, hoping for a fall clearance sale. All they had left were these and some really cheezy looking junk. The Ames wasn't on sale, but I sucked it up and paid full price. I thought it looked dumb and didn't expect it to work better or as well as any other rake.

Now, I just love this thing. It doesn't clog nearly as much as a standard rake. A lighter sweeping motion piles up the leaves quickly. In the spring, if you want to dig in and remove thatch and loosen the soil a bit, it works well too.

They're sold under a lot of brand names, I notice Sears has an excellent price. 10 year guarantee, if that concerns you.

I bought the big (wide - 30"?) Craftsman rake years ago. I'm on my third one, and the exchange has been painless (because the tines WILL break, no matter WHO's rake you buy...)

I use a metal tine leaf rake with a fiberglass handle.

I used one like this with a wooden handle a LOT working for a landscaping company during high school summers and a year after high school. Metal tines are the easiest to work with, I hate the plastic rakes.
