I never know if a post in here, or the yard sale thread is the best place, but I did pretty well this weekend for $25

Thanks all. Also included in the purchase were some assorted sockets and another complete wrench set (off brand, made in India, but complete with the cheap plastic tool roll). I'll throw those wrenches behind the seat of the truck.

Good haul - I sure would have been happy with it! Those Craftsmans- are they the =V= versions? They kind of have that look - narrow handles.

I'm not sure. What do I look for, and what does it mean? (I'm new to collecting wrenches)

The P&C "100 Series" were late production. Perhaps the last P&C-branded wrenches.

Bechtel Corporation is the largest construction and civil engineering company in the US. It is quite possible that they made a large purchase and Proto stamped their name on the wrenches. I've never seen one, or heard of one before.

Nice score!

Thanks for the info everybody. I had never seen bechtel wrenches before either but I could tell that they were decent quality, so I grabbed them anyway.

Also, did some self-education on = v = series wrenches, and yes, all the wrenches are of that vintage.

Nice work. With a little bit of cleanup, those will be real nice. $30 well spent in my book. I have yet to find any PLOMB wrenches in my neck of the woods, but I keep my eyes open.

What a horrible looking mess! You should send those four Plomb Pebbles to me so that I can safely dispose of them.

Spent $30 today,

You have several there that are fairly special. The Duro-Chrome combos on the left with the darts coming down from the open ends are WWII production - only made from 1942-45. They're cadmium plated rather than chromed.

And the Plombs with the pebbled panels - !! Not sure how rare they are, but there are many who collect them. Too bad yours are so rusty. Look up rust removal here for more info on more methods than you can shake a stick at.

I favor electrolysis.

Oh, yeah - 30 bucks?? YOU *****!!

Found at a yard sale today. Marked $7.50 but I paid $5 The Husky set is missing the 7/16 deep socket but otherwise complete. It also came with a set of 1/4 sockets. (pictured) These are marked with the size and "USA". They seem to be from the lower price spectrum.

If I am remembering correctly back that far I think Husky Sets came with a 1/4 hex drive handle and sockets and looked like the socket in your photo.

Hate to break up the "set". Let me dig around. I have some other Plomb things. I may be able to help. I'm a tad disorganized.
