Our neighbor is having a big yard sale, and I found a few tools to buy. Most interesting was the two small vises. No identifying marks, although the larger one has 'Made In USA' cast into it. The bigger green and red vise is 2-1/2"; the smaller on is 1-1/2". I also got a small copper hammer, probably 1 lb., a splitting maul head, and a Klein hacksaw. The hacksaw needs a cosmetic refresh, but it's a much better saw than my cheapie ones. Oh yeah- I couldn't get her to take any money! I feel bad, because she really needs the money, but neither her or her daughter would take anything. We look after her, fix stuff around her house, and share meals, so I guess it all evens out.

Nice find. Yeah, on the not taking money . I had similar a few years ago , neighbour lady selling her deceased husbands tools. a the end of the day I went over & grabbed a couple dozen sockets & wrenches ( that I really don't need). all sorts of mismatched ( mostly decent stuff) from snap on to no name ... She wouldn't take anything for them. a few weeks later I gave her a gift card for Tim Hortons , She gladly accepted that .

The smaller vise looks a lot like this one.

The decal is hard to read, but it's a Walker Turner Driver Line vise.

That's a nice little brass hammer. I'll bet it'd work well for straightening the rods on your vises.

Be careful using that maul as a hammer, since it's got a crack forming on that end. I had a buddy with a big scar on his forearm from a piece of wedge shrapnel.
