This is Sue, She kinda commands the room,

Field Museum in Chicago.

had to trail around a group of 4 girls all after noon, Plus they merged with another group of 4 so it was more like 8. Fun times.

Matt, are you telling us you have a life outside the Garage Journal? It's surprising but appears to be a wonderful thing. Feel free to carry on. We'll be here when you have time.
thanks Bob, I just need to get this thread caught back up with where I am at and stuff as I due like to use it for reference to look back on year by year what all I have done.

Just checking on you
still kicking I need to get all caught up on things, Just busy with life and stuff I guess.

Getting a big snow storm right now so its ATV stuck picture time had to use my John Deere 140 to pull the ATV out.

Needed the ATV and trailer to take down the kids trampoline and put away in the shed for the year and to much snow for ATV to make it on its own so used tractor to pull ATV around as well.

Then a poser pice of just the 140 I took out and was just driving around in the snow before I put the snow blower on for the winter can't go pleasure driving with the blower on. 2000 Honda Recon Stuck with trailer.jpg69 140 pulling Honda Recon.jpg69 140 by tree in deep snow.jpg

That looks like fun
It was kinda Fun. Temp was in the Mid 20's so not terrible. Got the Job done and Kid was semi in trouble so making him help out in the snow was a bonus work done in as a teaching point to Maybe we should be doing this stuff when the weather is better instead of having to due in a snow storm. Plan Ahead Think about what should be done before the weather turns nasty and makes things 2x harder than they have to be.

we have Ducks and Chickens and this is a ongoing teaching thing with Feed and bedding for them as well.

Today was Snow Blowing in the dark so I could take kid to work this morning at 7am and having the road drift shut and having to go the long way into town and then more snow blowing when I got back home.

spent 6 hours today on snow removal. 4 intown and 2 at home.

My Drive way, Sister-in-law, Mother-in-law with a bonus of making a back yard path for her dog's.
Plus picked up a 3rd intown driveway alot of walk behind snow blower work today.

then back home to finish up my own driveway. 69 140 in dark snow blowing.jpgdeep snow on road.jpg69 140 snow blowing deep snow.jpg

No sarcasm. We dont get much white stuff in my neck of the woods. Ive experienced weather like that. It’s fun when you’re not working in it.
Fair do’s, we don’t get anything like that ever.
I showed the family the photos and they said,
“ is he on holiday “ when I said no the guy lives there they both said, “ yeah, no fanks” 🤣🤣

ANy clue why the garage-in-a-box fell? Ours is arched, so the slightest wind pretty much clears it
guessing to much snow load. I have 2 of these at the moment. Other is still standing and is the wood shed.

of the 2 I need the wood shed standing for another 2 months or it'll be a mess.

When weather gets back to being better I'll have to make a trail to the shed and look at the damage.

For now nothing I can due about it. Might try and fish the 140 out of the mess and put it someplace safer.

This shed went up back in 2019 or 2018. so I got 4-5 years out of it.

This one had John Deere 140 with Tiller in it Bunch of spare tires. Belsaw M14 sawmill. So I guess setting up the sawmill to be workable to be able to build a better shed is now higher on the list.

The snow makes for adventures that is for sure.

Took me a few days, but I just read through your entire thread. Very interesting and entertaining. Enjoy the way you piece together whatever you can to make things work.

I was a little late to give to a suggestion on how to haul the wide shed on the narrow trailer. This is how I did one a couple years ago.

As for pig feed storage, wouldn’t it be easier to find a used 2 ton self feeder?

82355,

thanks for the pics and yes that would work as well I suppose.

Its I had to make the runner's to get the sheds moved in the yard's appx 20 yards and 30 yards from where they was at to the trailer to get it loaded and it all worked out.

Like the H&H trailer I have had mine for 20 years and still going strong!

for the hog feeder that is a joint venture with the brother-in-law and he wants things a done certain way's. I don't question I just go with the flow. And the Kids are doing the feeding so its not my time being taken up for putting feed in and its last 3-4 days as it is. If we had a feeder that big I wonder would the feed get stale by the time it would take 2 pigs to eat that much?

So,
It was in the low teens on Sunday and with more snow on the way, I was a bit, okay more than a bit worried about my other tarp shed suffering the same fate as the collasped one and since that is where the wood is for burning to keep me and family warm I thought I would due some shoring up and such. I know I could try and pull the snow off but the tarp is getting bad and I was worried I just put a rip in it and accelerate its demise.

i just finished out two Kune Kune pigs (very slow growing) on that feeder. The pig in the picture is when the pig was young. The feed was fine for that amount of time. Also there was nothing in my pig feed that was bad for chickens, so they were free to eat from there as well. You don't have to fill them plum full, I just bought the minimum required from the Co-op for free delivery.

Do you still have propane and a propane furnace for backup?

Yes propane tank is at 80% for the house. Been at that level the last 3 years. I run propane furnance a few days in the fall just to make sure it still works. Little workshop has electric baseboard heaters if my wood boiler has a failure I have backup options to keep warm.

At kids wrestling match today so living off the phone but even dud some work in the garage this last month the last major wall is done with the ship lap siding install. First pic is a before and theses all came off and then the shiplaping done and put back on.
20240123_135344.jpg
Plastic sheet put behind to help and then boards back on
20240123_174846.jpg
This was the first wall I had worked on and getting it 1/2 done I didn't like the gaps with the insulation showing hence the going the ship.lapping route which was 3x times as long to get stuff installed but I like the look alot more.
Pic of dirty car in garage just cause I think it looks cool!

That plastic will work nicely as a vapor barrier, and shoud be the final draft seal (yes, I did notice that you had the seams filled with expanding foam). Should make things a little (very little) nicer year round.

Yep when ever I need to use expanding foam for something the back wall got the left over in the can in the seems. plus when I first got the insulation all put in the wall I used a whole can going over where the seems was at.

Sap collected and ready to cook tomorrow. I'm gonna be happy to have the sugar shack to cook in as temp in morning is 11 or so. Went and got sap tonight so I didn't have solid blocks of ice to start with tomorrow garage stays about 35 or 40. Still have 2 buckets out on a tree I didn't have room to empty once I get going in the morning I'll go and get those as well. Though they might be solid ice.
