I think so only a 6 week run this year and only about half the sap of last year,

though last year was the best year we have had for sapping.

I don't know with out going back threw this thread to know how much syrup we have gotten in past years.

So went to collect the sap buckets and got to the first tree and didn't have the trailer. I had to double back down the trail and find where I had left it. I knew should have put the locking pin in the pin but since I had empty trailer I was moving at a bit faster speed and out come the pin. At least I found the pin and trailer with out any damange.

Then was Cutting up some firewood and had a nice 10 min snow fall while cutting the wood.

Winter decide to come back,

Truck is parked out by the garage due to garage sale setup in the workshop and ATV now taken over the garage so the 78 ford gets booted outside for a few day's.

yea the truck is the first thing that gets booted from the garage when I need the extra storage space. The back is full of all the stuff that came out my workshop so there was room to setup for the garage sale we are having this weekend.

But most of the time the truck gets parked inside the garage it is next to just not for the next few weeks.

In the back of my head is a extension off the back of Yea old garage with the sugar setup built along a wall so able to drive threw and unload sap and then boil off in the stoves and then in off sap season have that space for storage of stuff.

I have other buidlings to build first before I get that far though.

Would like sawmill setup,
Then a carport shed type for the camper at least enough to cover the roof and maybe 1/4 to 1/2 down the sides of camper. Then a 3 Garage off the basement house door for parking the Daily Driver vechiles so I don't have to go outside to get in truck to go places.
Shed for the sawmill to be in so its also out of the weather.
Bigger and Better cold storage Shed for Mower's and ATVs vs the truck topper scrap shacks I have.
Better wood shed then a 2nd bigger and better wood shed.
Then maybe garage build out for a improved Sugar operation setup.

there that may take me 15-20 years to get that far at the rate I go but sitll its a goal to work towards.

Sounds like you better start with the sawmill!

yes well cept the daughter snuck in 6 more egg layers that she really really wanted. I have egg overloaded we are getting a dozen plus a day if not 2.

Need to find a market for the eggs.

Im thinking a roadside serve yourself stand is in the works.

Make sure the letters are bold enough and big enough on the sign for drivers to read as they cruise by at 90mph.

So the oldest Kid Got His Eagle Scout this last weekend and Just a few photos of that so I can always find them later.

Him and his best friend have been in scouts together and a couple of pics from years past and this last weekend they had there Eagle Board of reviews back to back!

Pretty nice accomplishment for them both.

For the Troop we average about 1 eagle scout a year. some times 2. about half who are in the troop will make eagle. It takes work from the scout work from the parents to keep pushing the scout to due the work even when they don't want to. As a leader I can only due so much and say you need to be working on this go to campouts complete your merit badges.
Kids get to 15-16 years old and scouts are not as fun as when they was 12-14 years old.
Sports, Jobs, many other things seem to take up time and they just loose interest.

takes about 6 years to get it all done. 4 if your pushing hard on things and rank up on time. Covid set everybody behind by about a year.

Since 1970 we have had appx 60 eagle scouts from the troop I think is what is on the tracking board that we have.

I know, It at least got Washed last weekend, Have kids graduation party this upcoming saturday and trying to make everything look as nice as I can. Many will want to see the car who will be out at the party. Hoping to find time this summer to get it running again. Needs some Carb work and the Choke line hooked back up.

So been working on a Raised Garden bed for some strawberries the wife wants to plant this is how far along I am. The Sawmill castoffs are free some oak some pine some I have now clue was gonna make firewood out of all of it but then the wife came up with this.


and I just wonder what would be better on the inside of the bed to slow down them rotting out. to put either tar paper on the inside or I have the the tarp from the garage in a box shed that ripped. or due I due both?

I have plenty of tar paper and the garage in a box tarp remains. If I due both which next to the wood and which next to the dirt?

thinking tar paper next to the wood then the garage in a box tarp over that then the dirt inside to fill up and plant the strawberries. I have to put a chicken wire wrap around yet and gonna make the long sides hinge out for access as well.

This frame was the kids old play fort still have to take the rest of the deck frame off but it got dark when I got that done.

yea its been a long journey, for sure. Syrup was at half of last year but still had fun and having the sugar shack made a huge difference. Want to tap more trees next year and hoping to make a few more improvemets as well.

heck saving the garage was about my only option if I wanted to have a garage to keep the car in.
