I wouldn’t put tar paper inside your cool wood boxes cause chemicals will leach into your food. I’d just let the wood rot and in the meantime start collecting free bricks as you can and build next ones out of brick.

Fresh syrup and organic food sounds amazing. I know it’s a lot of work but fewer doctor visits and no medications is the goal.

Keep on doing you and the charger does look a lot better in the sunshine!!

So when I got the car out of the garage I drove threw the garage down the back path got turned around and the ground was wet enough and with 1 front tire half flat and other front tire having the brake hanging up I was stuck. Got the kid who was home to help me out he's 15 and got his permit so your choice either the atv to help pull the car or you want to drive the car. He choose the car so it took a bit to get us back going up the hill. I get half way up to the garage and look back and he's gaining ground on me and sliding sideways while doing it. Bit of a dramatic moment I'm thinking just get it stopped before you side swipe the rock wall along the garage. All turned out fine but pics of the carnage of the back path. I should have know better than going down there with the car to begin with. 20240613_092510.jpg20240613_092535.jpg

Maybe let your son have a couple practice driving lessons on flat dry ground before you let him try that again. Glad it wound up ok but geesh I could only imagine the thoughts going through your brain during that oh **** moment.

Yeah, it would have been sickening if the beast had been damaged. Other than the brakes, what does the car need to get it running?
Brakes are okay just hanging up. but that'll work it self out if I get it back on the road.

Just needs some carb work the choke hooked up and a good tune up.

Tires as well as there 20 years old.

Hoping this spring to finally have the time and $$ to put into the car and get it going.

It's a really weird winter so far. 20* high one day, next it's 50* high. All the trees are budding and we're supposed to get back to highs in the 20*s soon. Makes me wonder about the sap.

Looks like you're going to be a soccer dad for a while. Enjoy.
My oldest played Soccer for 6 plus years give or Take I've done my Time at Soccer fields.

The younger 2 played for a few years but didn't have the passion for it like the oldest did. The middle kid is all about football and wrestling and the daughter is volleyball and more volleyball. Kids keep you busy with going to there events but then I'm glad there in event's and not just playing video games at home all the time or just watching youtube for hours and hours.

part of the reason I post the Pics here is so that I can go back visit these moments again in the furture.

It used to be I got winter weekends to work on the garage. Now I might get a day. Not this last weekend Wrestling on Saturday and Volleyball on Sunday. though in a few years I wont have any sport events to go and watch so I'll enjoy these while I can!

And here I was complaining about the 7*F yesterday morning. By the end of the afternoon the temp had risen to 5*F. Yeah, it went in the wrong direction. Right now we're at 2*F. Boy am I glad the shop has heat! The temp at the wall says 61*F. Ok, back to cleaning up. Try to stay warm.

i'm not sure there is enough long johns or coats to keep warm at -17, but sounds like you're surviving. time to heat up the sugar shack and use it like a sauna? BTW it looks like it's been there for years. still making some syrup every year or has kid's lives got too busy for that ?

stay warm!!
My threshold for outside work is 20 degree's if above 20 and no wind I can cut wood and stay warm. If below 20 there is alway's plenty of inside work I have saved up to due. Or outside work that is quick and easy then its inside for a bit as well. Like clean out the sugar shack and put all that stuff in the shop where it needs to go. Still like 2 trailer loads of stuff inside the sugar shack from kids grad party deep clean make the place look nice back in June. Sugar shack got stuffed full or stuff and the back of the 78 ford is still full of stuff as well that I need to sort and put back in the shop. or put shelves in the garage and then put stuff in the garage on shelfs so I don't have to move it every year out of the shop. for the garage sale every spring.

I’m not sure how your Craigslist or offerup or other places to move stuff besides garages sales work in your area but if you find or know someone building a trex (pvc) deck the leftovers are very useful cause wood and wet weather sitting in the ground don’t last long. I use trex scraps to build concrete forms, racking shelves and other things.

Cutting firewood I bet is really keeping you in shape cause yard work might be the best gym on earth.

Drives this fire wood cutting deck the cross boards are 2 layers of Old deck boards that I got for free from neighbor down the road who was replacing his deck. I hoping they last 4-5 years or that's about how long the big 3x8 stringers last before they rot out. This one is sitting up on some pallets so it may last longer before it rot's into the ground. My 2nd Wood cutting deck is now 3 years old and still holding up strong as it is also sitting on pallets but they take abuse have logs pulled up on them to be cut up for firewood but is save me bending all the way over to cut the logs on the ground which helps my back last longer cutting wood for the day!

Free wood is always a good thing! Another option is seeing if you can find warehouses giving away their free plastic pallets.

How do you like the wood burning furnace? Less expensive and more labor I’m guessing? Does house and garage heat up nicely?

Drive's I have plenty of free wood pallet's that last about 5 years then fall apart. Boiler is doing good If wood is dry and small chunks it burns better. It does on Okay on the semi Green and or Punky wood that I send threw it.

House is at 74, Workshop is at 65, Garage is unheated unless I plugg in the heater then it gains 10 plus a hour till Its up to a temp I like. I insulated the PEX lines in the garage this summer as I thought since most of the time I don't need heat out there why have the heat loss off of the PEX lines. Made a bit of difference in how much wood the stove is going threw.

I have plenty of wood to cut and process its just finding the time to cut and process wood it seems like 3 kids in sports and scout's seem to take up weekend's and job change this summer means I don't get home as early.

Stove will burn as big as a hunk of wood as I can wreslte threw the door.

With 3 kids in sports I'd be surprised you have time to fart, let alone do chores around the house.
just 2 this year the oldest is in college now. But still having weekends free to due stuff is not really happening yet.
Football/wrestling/boy scouts/trap shooting for the son glad son has driver license he can get to stuff on his own now.
Volleyball/ Club Volleyball for winter and play/musical/choir/band for the daughter

plus different job for me which I spend 2.5 hours driving daily.

I due my farting in the car!
its just me and I have window control if it smells to bad!

How much snow did you get last Tuesday or Wednesday? We got about 6" this past Tuesday.
Id say we have 10" or so since last week Wednesday got like 5" then 2 days later another 5" all Light and fluffy.

Just enough that 2WD ATV with out chains pulling small trailer can be a problem.

Need to have a route made then can load trailer and make the trek.

just amazed there's just 4 pallets on the trailer and flat ground and the 2WD Atv has problems. If I had the other ATV that is also just 2WD and 50cc smaller engine but has chains on the Stock tires it would walk pretty much any place. right now that ATV dosn't want to start when cold. I had it in the heated shop it started right up and I drove it around a bit as I want to use it for Sap collecting as it has over sized rear mud flaps to keep the sap trailer cleaner. any way parked it outside for 3 hours to make sure it would start when cold as the sap trailer is in a unheated shed and it didn't want to start so it got pushed back into the heated shop. I gonna dump some sea foam in the tank and top it off with fresh gas and if I can get it to start its gonna go out side and get the piss ran out of it for a while.

That ATV seems to like to be problematic it'll be fine for months and then have a fit of not wanting to start and then I'll get it going and it'll run great for 3 to 4 months and then back to not wanting to start. Its old been beating on I'm sure the Plastic's are all pretty rough. Its been a good little ATV for the 4 years Ive had it. Though.
