Drives, I was cutting down small trees next to road with bigger dead tree leaning into them. Got saw stuck in little tree had to finish the cut on little tree with my small saw and pray the bigger saw came out okay. well the chain took the brunt of it.

yep I know just glad it was not a brand new out of the box chain. I have used this chain for I don't know how long I just know the teeth on the 1 side was starting to get short. I don't know if I hit nail and 1 side took the brunt. I due know 2 times it was cutting real crooked so for like 2 rounds of sharping it got 1 pass on 1 side and 3 on the other to make it cut straight again. I cut till it dulls down and then it gets the Sthil 3 in 1 hand sharpen and sometimes I due real good and other times okay.

Next time I go tree falling Im gonna make sure that if I pinch the saw off and stick it. I'll unbolt the saw head and try and at least wiggle the bar out. Live and learn on this. been cutting wood for many years and this is the first time I bent a chain.

My first time bending one that bad. Ive stuck the saw in the tree before and had to use other saw to rescue the first, Heck I had 2 stuck at 1 time and was on the 3rd saw. That was on a down tree that was just bridge on the ground

this was the big dead one leaning into 2 small little ones and got first small little one down on the road. all went well on that front it needed to be down as the big dead was gonna either hang up in this one or spin or who know what so get that one out of the way.

and then when cutting the 2nd small one that the dead tree was leaning on saw got jammed. Looking back I should have taken the time to at least take the saw off the bar. Heck I had the bar worked out of the tree just the chain still pinched off. But I just grabbed the little saw and went on the back cut and let the big dead tree push it over. and after all on the ground grab the big saw and hey this chain looks a bit funny. No time want to get tree off the road and fired it up and got 2 cuts made before it threw the chain. SO back to the Baby saw to finish road clean up. got the road open and then went and got a spare chain for the big saw gave it a quick sharpen and back to sawing up blocks.

Looking back with more hindsight next time I go cutting down trees to drop on the road. Gonna have all 3 saws sharp and full of Gas and been started that day so I know there good to go. Also might have a spare chain sharpend up for the main saw so if I due get pinched I can pull off the saw and maybe just wiggle the bar out and then put 2nd chain on and back to cutting and hope for the best with the stuck chain. and I think if I had just had the chain in the tree it would have fared better than the weight of the saw on the chain.

course 20 20 looking back dont saw into tree deep enough to have it pinch to begin with.

yep that chain was getting towards the end of live at least on the teeth on the 1 side.

well Ive stuck the saw plenty, Heck Ive had 2 stuck even and darn near the 3rd getting the first 2 out.

first time I've had damange from sticking the saw though. My Dad had all 3 of his stuck in a tree once and unbolted 1 saw and got the old beater bar and chain from behind the truck set, "beater Bar and Chain was for when having to cut out stumps" and used that to rescue the 2 saws and the stuck bar. I was not quite that bad but my little rescue saw is itsy bitsy for tree work and my backup big saw has a bad Throttle handle I only use that when I have a big log to block up and can fire the Sthil 030 up and let it saw away. with out have to put alot of stress on the handle. I need to replace the 030 Sthil but I got it from my late father in law and I gonna run it till it complete fails. I never really cut wood with him much but when I use it I think of the times I did work with him on stuff on his farm.

Yep one of my favorite till I over due it and the ATV is stuck for 2 hours or more a 10min stuck is just about right. For me.

You can get stuck anywhere/anytime if the situation is right. When I purchased my little garden tractor, I ordered a specific model because one of the features was an electric locking differential. I wanted it for a certain hill that I had to mow but it's value has far and away exceeded that one little spot. If I get stuck, I throw a switch and I'm out. I run turf tires so I don't tear up the lawn and I've seen my thousand pound tractor get stuck on wet grass!

A friend just told me how he got his Ranger stuck when dumping some brush on his property. Pulled his Ford van up to pull the Ranger out, no luck with a come along and just reversing the van.

Both were stuck now.

Finally he jacked both vehicles up, placed 2by lumber under the drive wheel and got both out. Five minute dump job turned into several hours.

He won’t go over there now after it rains. We’ve had a pretty wet summer this year.

Laughing because I got stuck in the ditch line yesterday for the second week in a row. Family saying is, "If you aren't getting stuck once in a while, you aren't trying hard enough!"

Same Place that my older son's Eagle Scout Bird House's are at. They Have a pretty nice setup out there and the troop camps out there ever fall as our end of the year campout.

will have 2 as soon as he gets all the paper work turned in and the board of the review done as well.

I was never in scouts but now looking back wish I would have given it a try. or even knew about it. I want to say I had a buddy who was in cub scouts for a few years and would have loved to been in that with him and done all the stuff up to being a Eagle Scout.

My Oldest and his best friend started in Cub Scouts together and they are both eagles now the left 2 on the bench picture of the 3 eagle scouts.

So last weekend working on making a log holding table for when splitting big rounds. With a ramp to roll the rounds up on to the holding table then from there to splitter. This is just first draft has not been tested yet. Got wood splitter on loan from. Brother inlaw and have some big rounds to get split up more than I want to muscle up to the splitter.

On ramp is chain that will be used to roll log up onto work table. Set work table next to log splitter and split big rounds in half put half back on table keep.splitting other half till it's to firewood size then can grap half on table and onto splitter less bending over to pick up.big wood chunks from the ground.

That is the thought process. Plus table is small enough I can move it to different spots where my big rounds end up. For splitting at different spots.

4 screws and the ramp will remove as well for transport

I love the idea. If you plan on taking the ramp on and off a bunch, I'd use some sort of pins instead of screws. Also, I get that you'll be using a quad to pull the logs up, and that in some spots space may be tight, but that ramp still looks awful steep. I think cable would work better than chain.

If I had the $20k for the skid steer and then the $3k for the splitter well that would be super nice to have. But I don't have the $ for all that stuff. I gotta make due with what I have and heck I'm super happy to have a splitter to use just making it more user friendly to use.

Well I have a splitter for the front of the John Deere 140 I just got to get the pump figured out. Have grand Idea of having the front splitter and then a rear splitter as well that I can lower to the ground and roll the big rounds on and then split them up and when they are handle size taking to the front mount splitter that is up at waist height.
