If I had the $20k for the skid steer and then the $3k for the splitter well that would be super nice to have. But I don't have the $ for all that stuff. I gotta make due with what I have and heck I'm super happy to have a splitter to use just making it more user friendly to use.

Well I have a splitter for the front of the John Deere 140 I just got to get the pump figured out. Have grand Idea of having the front splitter and then a rear splitter as well that I can lower to the ground and roll the big rounds on and then split them up and when they are handle size taking to the front mount splitter that is up at waist height.

Yeah. I don't have that kind of money either, but it would be nice, wouldn't it?. . . Of course if we had that money, we probably have higher priorities for it! You do amazing stuff. Love your tractors.

So got some crate containers and gonna turn them into raised garden beds this winter but for now they are getting make shift tin roof to keep the weather out of them till I'll have time shore them up for raised garden beds

I wish I had the cash to due things How I would like and have them done right as well. Instead I just get by how ever I can.

Hope they last a year or 3 and then come up with better design this is the wife idea gonna give it a try. Gonna line inside with some tarps to help.

Do you think lining it with plastic (not a tarp) and a couple of holes in the bottom would make it last longer? Cap the top edge so water doesn't get down between the layers? One quick layer of urethane inside and out?

top edge will have a cap to help keep the water out of the plywood my off the hip idea at the moment is to fill the crates up 3/4 full with wood pallets then put in a bottom layer of old plywood line it with old feed bags from the pigs and chickens or a tarp or tar paper. so the dirt bed depth is only gonna be 10-12" of dirt for plants to grow and go from there. This will be a winter build in the garage when Its to cold outside to be outside. for now I just trying to make them a bit water proof hence the tin cover on them. top cap is already going on them so I have something to screw the tin onto to hold it down.

I need to look at raised garden beds some more but like I mentioned this is a wife project and I'm just the guy who gets to make it all work somehow.

Tar paper sounds like a good plan. The tarps won't last very long and will end up making a huge mess. I so hear you on the "Boss" giving you a new project. Finally had to start saying no to my wife.

I think I mentioned this to you before but here’s a couple ideas besides your wood plywood boxes.

One member here is a farmer with about 1000 acres to maintain and he’s got 40000 chickens and more than a few cows. Anyway he uses these big water totes I think he gets for free for his wife’s home gardens. He cuts the tops off and fills with dirt and grows a bunch of stuff in about 10 of them.

Another idea is to find cheap or free bricks or concrete blocks and mortar up some raised beds. Cement and sand and a little water and you have mortar and no need for replacing wood boxes or rebuilding in a couple years.

One more idea I did was I built a 10 x 20 raised bed garden and filled it with 5 yards of garlic snd it grows amazing crops each summer.

Thanks drives are you talking about out on Quaker road jblnut correct thread? I so need to get caught up on alot of people's threads but I just don't have the time like I used to.

This is gonna be a winter project as I can work on them in the garage to get them setup up then put in garden. Add the top.layer of dirt and wife can plant what she wants. Heck I have a big plastic tote that I may cut in half as well to make a planter out of it

Yep JBL on Quaker road. Instead of thumping through his big thread just ask how he and his wife like their totes for their garden needs.

Be on the look out for free or reasonable priced used bricks cause some people take out big driveways and patios cause they don’t like to weed them.

Nice thing about bricks or blocks is you won’t have to worry about tar paper or plastic or chemicals in your good eats and only maintaining is to add a bit of good compost each year which I think you’ll have plenty of.

They Lost in overtime 41 to 40. fun game to watch cept for the loss at the end.

Different coaching staff this year than last year. so different offfense system then the one these kids been running the last 3 years. They make mistakes and due dumb things.

My Kid was starting left tackle for game 1 which they lost 24 to 7. This week he got moved to Center for 1 day then right guard and for the game he was the 6th O lineman he got 1 snap on offense was on Kick off and he played 1 serires on defense.

As a parent its tough that he's suddenly not playing alot. As a freshman He started on Freshman o line played half on defense as well. pretty much the same last year as a sophomore he played Right Guard and tackle and started all the games on JV and a few on varisty as well. Heck he started 3 games as a freshman on varisty due to injure on the oline and now as a junior they say theres kids younger than him that are better. Im not the only parent in this boot there are other seniors who never got on the field at all. They was starting guard last year on JV and now nothing as a senior. Good Kids as well.

I'll get off my soap box about that. Told the kid, Just be ready you get your chance again and in life you'll have things not go how you want alot, its how you respond to that will determine the type of person that you want to be.

Well only thing worse then watching your kid not play is, the kid getting it the game and then getting hurt and having to watch from the bench. Well it could be worse he got back in after halftime and finished the game out. His shin been bothering him and he got kicked in the knee on the same leg. Had to ice it for a bit and he went threw half time warm up missed the first series in 3rd quarter but then was in for the rest of the game. 55 is my boy his buddy is 78

He's a bit sore today but was able to help out with meat chicken processing.

From my station to the table for final feather removal then legs get cut off then into cold water cooler to cool down birds before they get gutted and cut up how you want them for freezing.

Started at 8am this morning and done by 4pm. 7.5 person team mother in law, brother in law, sister inlaw showed up at noon to help and wife and 3 kids. All in all did pretty good.

So some wood cutting today.
I got wheels back on my little tail dolly for pulling logs and gave it a test. Tag line from my winch makes sure the tail stays on the log. Have some trees a mile down the road i wanna go and get so this might be seeing some work.

And then up on my cutting deck. Have a bee nest under the front of the deck so I just blocked the log up in this spot.
Bees don't like the saw vibrations for some reason and I don't like getting stung. So when wood shed is full im pulling log cutting deck from this spot. When weather is cold so bees won't be a problem then. For now I'll just block wood here real careful like.

Yep i had a nest under the first wood deck and put a log on it and was sawing away and bam got stung in left hand and that was the end of sawing that day. I dropped the saw running and was backing up in a hurry.


Few days later when hand didnt throb anymore lifted up wood cutting deck found bee nest and it got flattened no more bee problem few days later.

Yes. Pretty much any sting. In a pinch, the ammonia in Windex will work. Just a little slower.

it works pretty good. the 2 chains for turnbuckleing the blocks up on that table I may rework that and just go to a single chain in the center. The splitter wont be a permanent spot as I end up with big blocks in different areas I'll need to take the splitter to. My lower Wood cutting deck I have probaly around 3 trailer loads down of wood down there and 2/3 of those are big blocks to split and 1/2 of the of the blocks are huge and gonna need the splitter stand and ramp to get them split.

The stand is super light and 6 screws hold the ramp on so a drill and 2 min I can have the ramp off and put in trailer and haul down to where the blocks are and split them there and load trailer with split wood to haul to the wood shed.

So this is gonna be my splitter moving tractor put on some rear weights and chains prepping for winter.

The front headlight bezel in 2 parts so some JB weld and giving it a try. Gonna need lights so I can see to put splitter away when it gets dark.
I'll need the other 140 on the blower for the winter and the tiller 140 is gonna be the emergency spare if i need to put it to use. Need to test out this 140 and put it threw some paces.
