Re: Yea Old Garage

On the atv ride took time for the traditional stop to throw sticks in the crick.

Even managed for all three kids to stay dry and not fall in.

Was a good day for a atv ride around 35 little on the muddy side but but nothing for the atv to handle.

Re: Yea Old Garage

and this is the outside Pic of the stove pipe.

pic 1 is outside stove pipe.

pic 2 is view of the stove from the back door of garage.

the goal is that I can have this ready to go in 1 hour and take back apart in 1 hour for each spring and fall so that when the weather turns in the fall I'll hook this up and live with the reduced garage space but when the weather is warm the stove goes outside till needed again In the fall.

thanks for looking.

I'll have to report back once I fire it up and find out how it does..

sublime out.

I know its not the best but the long term goal is to have Radiant floor heat in this garage but that might be 5 plus years down the road.

but I don't want to put a hole in the roof for a stove pipe that only gonna be used for 5 years or so.

Re: Yea Old Garage

i thought 78 fords had round headlights?

the first half of the year the 78 fords had round headlight till the remaining stock of headlights was used up and then when those were gone they change to the square headlights.

the round headlight 78 fords are kinda rare. from what I know.

the 77 fords all had round headlights thought that was a different grill style as well.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Insulation updates, It has been a slow and tedious progress on getting this done.

Pics of the project a close up and long view above the garage door.

I have all the cubby holes filled with insulation.

the best part of having this done is I used up the insulation that I had stored in the back up the 78 ford so now the truck is free to be used for other thing's.

I wonder How many of us seem to work on a project just to simply free up the area where the project materials are stored at so that area is now free for something else?

Re: Yea Old Garage

Got some free lumber from my uncle down the road he's having a old barn taken down and this was my pirating load off stuff from the old hay mow.

Don't have a use for it yet but I'll find something to put it to use.

The old atv started a rear side to side sway if went much faster then 20 mph so made the 2 mile trip at 15 mph there was some pucker factor first time I got up to 25 and the sway was really going

One of the boards has 1881 painted on it from the grainy that I got.
Might be legit as the rock foundation has 1920 and the owner name from that time.

Who knows how old some of this stuff is as might have been used and repurposed when the barn went up

Any way

My back is very sore from lugging the beams on and off trailer

Want a work out get some 6 x 6 oak barn beams pull them around and stack them up for fun
Good times.

Sublime out

Got sheet 3 and 4 up even employed child labor to help with picket fence board clean up.

The picket fence boards worked out real well on the seams of tar paper didn't have any rips or blow out over the winter.

I'm on a rain delay today but this is where finished up last night complete with red solo cup left out from the night camp fire we had with some friends.

Since I had help the ac unit got put up in where it will stay. Just sitting up there right now I'll have to get it squared up but way nicer to lift with 2 people vs 1

Re: Yea Old Garage

Rope tied to ladder with a clove hitch and a safety knot
Thanks tech rescue training for the rope and knot knowledge!

Made a hole in attic floor where ladder is going and up she goes.

Before this though had the stairs un fold and just cleared the charger front fender by 2" I don't even want to think about the dent or scratch I would have put in car if closer
whew bullet dodged big time on that account.

The temp brackets up and the ladder in place on the temp brackets. Now have to go and get some lag screws to bolt it in place.

Have other errands in town so will hope to finish this up tomorrow.

Re: Yea Old Garage

It's shaping up rather nicely. Between the metal roof and T11, the final result will be sharp indeed.

Thanks Denwood I thought you like the red solo cup pic with the 78 peaking out of the garage. The back has the rest of the t11 didn't want to get wet so pulled truck ahead to give room to work on attic ladder.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Attic ladder installed and functionally. Sure is nicer than the old wooden rung ladder I had been using. Goodbye old friend I'm sure I'll find another use for you soon. Though old wooden rung ladder was essential for the rafter purlins installation.

Any way got ac unit level out and last piece of siding on, we'll just one more side to go and still have to trim out around windows and corners.

But the big bulk work is done

Pretty happy for my weekend progress.

Final pic

Re: Yea Old Garage

Are you going to stain the T-111? Or did I miss that? Project going along well now since the weather has broken some.

Yep that be coming up soon. It's just the lower boards that are below the t-111 get stained up on the sawhorses cause it's way easier to due then having to paint them so close to the ground.
