Re: Yea Old Garage

And now up around the window should have done top board first have a big gap I'll have to fill in with caulking grrrrr.

And get some clear to go between window edge and boards also.

Good thing I'm not a paid carpenter just a hack with a hammer who does what he can.

You have made good progress. I'm always leary of projects like yours. Sometime it is like putting lipstick on a pig. When you are done you still have a pig. Sometimes, as in your case, it is more like a Prince putting a glass slipper on Cinderella. Takes a lot of savvy when selecting a building for renovation vis demolition and rebuild. I think you got it right.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Considering what you started with, the transformation is very impressive :)

Its not much but it is what I have.
be gentle

just a 24 x 26 and the only thing New on it is the roof everything else is used.

the walls started out as a 20x20 garage I disassembled and loaded onto a trailer and hauled out one wall at a time they leaned against a tree for 3 years before I got around to refurbish them into the walls of this garage.
I cut 1 wall in half and added each part to the other walls.

this is the first Pic I have of it.
and how she stood for the first winter in SW Wisconsin.

Making corner covers to over lap overlap the seams on the corners of the garage.
Tail gate of the old 78 ford gives me a nice somewhat flar area to build off of.

Corner made

Easy peasy for a hack with a hammer

Re: Yea Old Garage

And the nailing of the boards just string a tape and mark for a nail every 12" except cheet the end in 2" and have a little board on top to center up on and pre drill the holes to keep board from splitting.

Rain and darkness set in so didn't get the corner cover put up tonight maybe tomorrow, though that is doubtful have the yearly wash wax fire truck duty before the big town parade on Sunday and fire truck waxing can be a late night event.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Captain thanks for comments and Denwood took care of the first pic of how she looked, if I get time on a real computer I'll due a side by side shot of them. Start and end

Bib I like the lipstick on the pig reference,
Or has I have told some I didn't want to end up with a 2 dollar steak "garage"
Next to the 20 dollar ponderosa "house.."

I think the garage looks okay in and of its own right now.

That first pic she wasn't even good to feed the dogs with
Lol

Denwood thanks ad always

Your build is fantastic! I am more amazed at your fortitude to get this done considering what you started with. Not only that, but how it turned out first class! Great job!

Thanks mesaazguy

Working on getting corner boxes put on the garage,

The rear corner put down a bead of cauking to help seal this up.

The siding around the door was getting in bad shape this is my band aide to get more years of life out of it.

Note to self when temp above 80 and you put nails on black atv seat then pick up 5 of them and put in mouth to hold onto they will be hot, heck they even hot to hold onto.

In honor of the dangerous ladder thread,

Here hold on and away we go.

Put the Ladder in back of the truck to be able to reach the top of the window to put a bead of cauking along the top for weather proofing.

I had my dad over to help and he manned the bottom of the ladder to keep it from sliding on the truck bed.

Looking good, Sublime! I agree with earlier posters when they say it could've gone either way. You obviously know what you're doing.

Thanks sreno, I still have a long way to go on this, but now it is starting look respectable.

Know what I'm doing is highly debatable? I know what I want it to look like when done but if it gets there or not remains to be seen.

Last big thing outside is soffit. Hopefully this fall

I put a ladder in my front end loader once and that worked out fairly good. It was in a hard to get place.

Your garage is looking good.

Man just read your thread and just wanted to add a good job. I love the old wood barns but wood and do not ply well together. I am a metal man and if I can't cut to short, weld it back together, and beat into submission it is beyond me talents! Now the R/T that I can do! What engine are you running?

Thanks fergus good luck on your new triple looks like your starting out way better then the derelict rides again

You would be surprised how many guys would love a garage like that. Put down a wood floor and I would be in heaven.

Have thought some about a wood floor hmmmmmm

Next for the garage is power would be a good thing, also doing soffit as well, get the roof line finished off but need to have $$$ for both of these to move forward.

I get the soffit done more rock landscaping around the sides to create a fire break and balance out from lower side that already has rock wall

For winter i have inside plans to line the walls will plank boards while the wood burner keeps me nice and comfy.

Get the ceiling insulated as well, lights and outlets be a good thing to have I suppose. $$$ for this as well

Whew I get all that done maybe just maybe I can work on the car. She needs some love. Power windows need all motors either replaced or cleaned and window tracks need lubed up so windows work how they are suppose to.

Right now have pet project for my atv over in fab section
