I bought a Craftsman baseball hat at Sears last weekend. It has LEDs in the bill. It was such a novelty that I just had to have one. Funny thing is, I actually find it useful, esp. when peering into the dark recesses of our various cars. And it only cost $15.

Come one, you know you want one, lol!

Man, they are putting lights on everything now. I just saw the new lighted mechanix gloves the other day. I have mixed feelings about the gloves. Seems like a good idea, but is it really necessary?

Now these I have to get. Kinda get tired of pulling out the third hand to hold the flashlight.

I got a little flashlight that clips onto the bill of a baseball cap, I find it to be very helpful when I can find it.

That is pretty cool. But with 2 kids, the batteries would always be dead from them playing with it (just like every other flashlight in the house)

I looked at those gloves with the LEDs, but I think I'll pass. I use Mechanix gloves nearly religiously (I have 3 sets, in different colors, for varying job 'dirtiness), but those look like more trouble than they are worth. Maybe I have large hands, but with the gloves on, even without the protruding light 'pod', I am frequently getting snagged or hung up while 'operating on my patient'. With the limited space available in more modern engine bays and chassis, these things would be a nightmare - at least for me.

With as much as your hands move I think the light in the gloves will not help much. I am a big fan of light, but that is a bit weird.

I've got a screwdriver with a bunch of little changeable bits and a telescoping magnet and it has lights built into the handle that come in pretty handy. I like the idea of lights.

I'm lucky if I can even find a flashlight. I used to have them all over the house but my 5 year old son must eat them for lunch because I can never find one when i need one.

This isn't a new idea - the gloves used on the Mercury Program space suits had lights on the end of two fingers. They figured it would help viewing instruments and switches in the Mercury capsule if the main lighting failed.
