I don't believe that's true. A few ratchets and many wrenches are still made in the US. They will likely stay that way and the sockets will also be made in the US for many years to come. We'll just have to wait and see.

Change "all" to "most" in my previous post and I believe it is an accurate statement. From what I can find online you appear to be right about the sockets being made in the US...for how long though, it's hard to say.

simple solution.....move all of your belongings to a dryer climate, I could leave my sockets in the driveway for 6 months and for the most part they would still be like the day I set them there.

Sweet dude thanks for the input

no problem man just trying to help:bounce:

seriously though, I never had the problem of the tools rusting when I stored them in the garage,at least not plated tools, I could see unplated stuff rusting from humidity in the air.The only time I ever had troubles, was when I'd work outside in the rain and close my toolbox up while stuff was still wet. And I did live in Fla. for a while,so I know what high humidity is like on stuff

Yes I know, plated tools should not rust especially after only 8 or 9 months. It just bothers me. They can make a good product but a few bad ones slip thru giving them a bad name.

I bought them last year, something tells me they were starting to really cut their costs.

pipsters you must live near me. Ive had the same issue since I moved here 3-4 years ago. I lived in WNC most of my life and never once had an issue with rust on my tools. I moved just south of Winston-Salem and even the tools I have had for years started to rust in my tool box.

They don't rust in the obvious places, like the inside of sockets or opening of wrenches. They rust on a otherwise perfect chrome, smooth surface. Ive had chrome sockets rust when an impact sockets right to them are perfect.

I tired everything from covering my tools with rags, to the little packets you find in products and nothing helped. Then I bought some Turtle-Wax chrome polish from wal-mart for $1.97 to remove the rust and not only did it remove the old rust, but it stops new rust for forming.
It's been about a year since I fist cleaned all my tools with the chrome polish and so far the rust has not returned on a single one of them.
