I had a service tech come out for preventive maintenance. I saw him put a yellow "cough drop" looking thing by the the A Coil. What would that have been?

I need one too. I have a lingering cough. :lol_hitti

It maybe a biocide that prevents condensate drain blockage.

Drain line blockage was a new one for me, being a northern boy AC was not something I knew much about when I came to the tropical paradise of Florida.

Lived in my first house about 5 years with never an issue. Turns out the system was put in by the owner who was a good AC tech.

At my present house there was water dripping through the closet light one day, knowing we do not have hydro power there must be another reason. Light is directly under air handler. Quick websearch and find out I have a plugged drain line, that needs to be vacuumed out.

Drain lines need a good pitch to them so the water flows through without sitting. Also that thing about making the inside unit perfectly level, not in my house! I put a slight pitch towards the drain on line.

Not much of an issue with a mini as long as the inside unit is off level and the line goes straight down. But I have an inside wall mounted unit that runs about 16 feet horizontally, I used 3/4" PVC pipe for the run and have a good slope to it. vacuumed after a year and it was clean.

Yeah it is probably just a tablet to keep things clean and to keep stuff from growing in the pan and drain lines and clogging things up.
