You've given me involuntary flashbacks of a lower AC pump mounting bolt/nut on a DOHC V6 Toyota Tundra. Deep recess in a heavy bracket, tough clearance problems, tight / frozen bolt, rounded the nut using a worn 12pt socket. Had to remove some additional things to bring an air chisel to bear on the nut, to split / chew it off the bolt / stud, go on with the timing belt replacement job and order the specialty bolt via Toyota from the other side of the Mississippi.
'Favor' for a neighbor.

I have a go-to buddy that I call whenever I need a second set of hands or eyes. I always tell him "it couldn't possibly take more than an hour". He's learned to disregard that statement! :)

Thanks for the flashback to changing the power steering and alternator belts on an 85 Mitsubishi. Snapped the lower pivot mounting bolt on the alternator while snugging it back up with a wrench!

I punted and brought it to the local garage and let him deal with pulling everything to replace that bolt.

I did a 1-hour plumbing job last weekend - in 6 hours!

Changing a battery and trying to remove the hold down bolt comes to mind....no wonder so many batteries are bouncing around engine compartments! You'd think they have a belt with a buckle or come-a-long to hold a battery in place...but "NOOoooooooooooooo!"

My wife stopped listening to my expected job time estimates a LONG time ago.

What finally made her realize that. My
Girlfriend still doesn’t get that and it’s been 10 years. I have given up on her learning to read in between the lines one my stuff I have learned how to with her time lines but it’s a different story for me I guess

She's a really observant gal. But, to be fair, we've been married over 50 years. LOL

At this stage of my life, I have boiled down my resume to four words. They are “Been There, Done That”

I've learned there are no "just a few minute" jobs. I estimate a day to change a lightbulb.

My theory is that the minimum amount of time any job can take is half an hour. By the time you've collected the tools you need, started the job, gone back for the tool that you really need but forgot the first time around, found the tool you put down just a second ago to go get that other tool but has now mysteriously disappeared, did the job, and then put everything away again at least half an hour has passed.

Don't even get me started on a quick run to the store for supplies / that tool you were pretty sure you had but just spent half an hour looking for because would make the job take 5 minutes if you could find it.

You're right, if she's been "girlfriend" for 10 years she really doesn't understand how long stuff should actually take!

When I was working, retired now, I worked on machines on a production floor
I would be working on one and the production supervisor would come and ask me how long would it be. I would say to them how long does it take to catch a fish. LOL
