We used to have one, and he got most of our shops tool business. He had some sort of surgery and he hasnt come around the last year and a half or so. Cornwell dealers are getting really scarce these days. Its too bad, they have good stuff.

If he's a good guy, why don't you invite him over to GJ? I'm sure we could give him some business. It would be nice to have access to a dealer for those of us who don't, which includes Canada....

I heard a rumor the other day that the Discovery Channel is gathering a team of scientists from around the globe to do an in-depth study of whether the Cornwell truck really does exist, and to try verifying sketchy eye witness accounts of possible sightings.

We had an excellent Cornwell dealer at the other dealership. None of the techs bought anything from him when he first started coming around. But he showed up anyhow, week after week, and really earned our business.

As far as the tools themselves? Some good quality made in USA stuff, and quite a bit of Taiwan stuff.

The Cornwell dealer at the location where I work now (we have two dealerships), seemed like a good guy but he was always talking about how bad business was going and how he might have to go back to his old job. He pretty much dug his own grave. We didn't buy a thing off his truck, out of fear that he wouldn't be there to support us and now he's out of business.

I'm pretty sure the entire "Cornwell Tool Company" myth was started by folks who saw who saw an Indy tool dealer called Mr Cornwell who put his name on the side of his truck;)

I have never seen a Cornwell truck. In my neck of the woods we currently only have Snap-On after the Matco dealer's franchise went belly up. I have seen Mac trucks in my travels, but never Cornwell. I wish more tool trucks would stop by the shop.

They gave up on trying to find the mac guy?

Agree about getting him to the site. I have found the site typically has more up to date info than many tool dealers have, even those who actively participate in conventions.

I remember seeing a cornwell truck that used to be parked at outside of a gas station at night. This was in the town I grew up in, now that I moved away and I'm a technician, I can't say I've seen one since.

I see the Cornwell guy all the time here in KC. It's a beautiful truck. Snap on guys seem to be on every corner, Matco is common as well as Mac. Guess we are lucky.

I'll snap a pic when I can

Richmond, KY has had a Cornwell dealer for nearly 20 years. His name is Clyde Miller and he's a great guy. Surrounding counties have wraiths that come and go, leaving scattered tools, boxes, and business cards with disconnected phone numbers as proof that they were there at one point. Tool guys in central Kentucky seldom last more than 3 years or so regardless of brand. I had a recent thread entitled "Tool truck lifespan in Lexington, KY" in which I averaged their tenure.
