Yet another epoxy question

Well I am getting ready to put epoxy down this weekend. Im doing the rustoleum kit from home depot. I etched last night with quickrete degreaser and etcher and I plan on etching one more time with the stuff that comes in the rustoleum kits. I plan on applying one coat, than waiting 16-24 hrs to apply another coat and flakes.

My question is since the flakes are vinyl, would it be possible for me to apply something like the cowboys star from those fathead decals in the center once I apply my second coat of epoxy than apply a clear coat over the flakes and the star? Will this hold up or even work, Im afraid the clear will not keep the star down and the entire thing might pill up? Any advice or should I just do without the star, just thought it would look nice!

Ok! Just an idea. Thanks for the info guys! What about the rest of my project, does everything sound good? Im doing it this week end. Putting a coat down Saturday morning, another coat and chips on Sunday morning. How long should I wait to put my clear down?

I would not try to embed that type of graphic into your floor coating system.

I'm working on a new blog post to The Garage Dude Blog regarding this topic and am currently looking to source more than one vendor to handle the graphic "decal" production...for now, I would recommend http://agioimaging.com/02Eportfolio.htm who can layout the graphic in a cloth based material which will allow the coatings to soak through and adhere to the coating layer below. My coatings manufacturer has utilized this system with good success. You still need to put enough top coating into the final installation, but once completed, your graphic is permanent.

See if it's tintable, maybe tint some the right color and stencil on the shape you want after the 2nd full coat, then clear it all.

i wouldnt try to embed a large graphic like that, it'll peel IMO
