Seven days ago I got the floor poured for my new shop. It is 24 X 30 and has been power troweled to a slick finish. I live in the banana belt of Nebraska, but we get winters in Nebraska.

I want the floor to stay nice-looking without absorbing spilled oil. I don't think I want an epoxy floor since my new floor would have to be etched to get the epoxy to stick. I would prefer a sealer that is clear and would NOT be happy with a sealer that would further darken the new concrete.

I had the floor cut with a diamond saw for contraction cracks. It is HIGHLY unlikely that I will get the shop enclosed before winter. I am concerned with water entering the sawn cracks in the floor, freezing, and breaking my new perfectly finished floor.

I am thinking I should seal the floor with something and then caulk (or otherwise seal) the cracks so water cannot enter them, freeze, and cause problems. I welcome any suggestions and will clarify any questions posed.
