Damn, I love my job!!

I was given these signs today by an elderly lady who I've done a bunch of work for over the past couple of years. Her late husband had worked for Shell most of his life and picked them up over the years. He had them mounted on their patio fence and she wanted to start clearing out stuff that she doesn't need any more. They're a nice addition to my old garage.

I love that older one in the middle. It would however look a lot better in my shop!
I`ll send you my address.
Thanks:beer:

I just need Boyd Who's address, a ladder and some gas money. Those are going to look great in my garage.

Haha! Yeah, I ****...can't deny it. Once in awhile something cool like this comes along making my job really worthwhile.
As for meeting the fellow who originally collected them, sadly he passed away a number of years before we moved to town. I've done a bunch of odd jobs for his widow and when I asked about the signs she simply gave them to me. She wanted them to go to a good home and I will certainly provide that.

Hi Al:
Great Find - I would guess that the signs would bring pretty good money from Collectors today. Very nice of that lady to just give them to you...

Actually I think she should have given them to me.. I grew up behind a Shell Service Station in the late 40's and early 50's.

Here is a picture of my Father and Grandfather around 1949/50 I'm guessing. The Service Station was completely remodeled around 52/53 as I recall.

FWIW,
Carl B.

You should see some of the stuff I get paid to haul away for people. "You ****" is sometimes an understatement. LOL

Thanks Carl. That's a great photo of the old family gas station!
