Hello to all, like many I have been reading post on the site for many years. Finally I have joined. I'm born and raised in Texas and have a slight addiction to tools and building things out of wood. I have worked on cars since the early age of 14 or so. We pulled plenty of engines using the old trusty tree in the backyard with a chain and come-a-long. First engine I built was a 300 six for my 69 ford F100. Thinking back about that first truck at age 16, I started looking for another one. Now at the age of 40 I have a new project. I found a 1967 Ford F100 short bed with the factory 352 Big Block Ford FE. Lucky for me this truck was owned by an old farmer and was never modified, everything is still there and it only cost me 1500, about 1400 more than the first one cost me. Though I do love cars, my real love is wood working.
Like many of us here in the US I'm passionate about tools that are "Made in the USA" and this gets harder and harder to accomplish as years go by. Once Craftsman started making tools elsewhere I invested a lot in the USA made stock that I could find. My local Sears had a few sets and I found some at Ace Hardware. I should probably stop buying screw drivers but they are still made here and I can't resist.
For my big machines I have been real happy with Grizzly. I own the G0555LX 14" band saw and the G0715P hybrid table saw. These are really good machines in my opinion.
Sorry for the long post but I felt I owed The Garage Journal some quality feedback for all the years of lurking, glad to be here.
