Yet Another Welding Cart

I thought I would show you gents my new cart. I have a water cooled Dynasty 200, Miller 211, small plasma and once in a great while I use Oxy/acetylene. My garage is not big and I have a bunch of stuff in it, so space is at a premium, fitting all the welding gear in and making it accessible was a big deal for me. The best place I could figure to put it was under my welding bench but that is a tight fit.

The following pics show what I came up with. Everything fits well and the cart is of course on rollers so I can move it as needed. One of my issues was also the fact that Miller like to put on/off switches on the back of machines which made the arrangement I came up with inconvenient. The solution was a big distribution box wired into the frame and properly sized switches controlling the receptacles on the cart that each machine is plugged into. Now its super convenient.

Yea, the bottles are small but it works for my needs. If I have a big job to do, I have a larger bottle that I pull out and hook up. Otherwise, the small bottles last plenty long for my needs.

Cheers

I hate digging for stuff and looking around, so I decided to organize my filler rod with PVS pipes with caps on each end. I milled out an openig on one end, stacked them together in a metal cradle and epoxied them together. Then sprayed with bedliner and they are nice and secure.

This photo shows how I stacked the PVC tubes to handle the filler rods

Thanks Guys

The dimensions are 32" tall, 32" deep and 30" wide. As to changing wire, its no big deal. I set it up so that the door would hinge up unobstructed, I just have to move the lead hanging in front of it. As to the sheet metal, yea that's all for now. I put it there to keep swarf from raining down on the machines. I may replace it with a piece of heavier steel so that I could use it as a rolling table but the sheet metal seres the purpose for now.

Not hard to roll around at all but also not set up like a small cart that can easily be dragged around the shop. The biggest issue with portability is not the weight but the length and width. On my Racedeck floor it moves just fine, however its really too big to use as a highly portable cart. I am not sure how many other situations it would work well for, but for my crowded space where 90% of my welding is done at that bench, it works great

well it looks professional in the execution of it. i couldn't use the design cause i have big tanks but i like yours.

curious though how long do the tanks last you? i got a 80cu mig tank i think ive never filled it yet im about half way through my 40# spool but i dont weld that often.

That took some planning :D nice design there! The Millers I have (older, non inverter machines) all have the switch on the front but that's a nice way to make it more convenient.

I like the design. Great use of space. Excellent execution. BUT. I hate having the machine under the weld table. I had mine down there due to space (14x20 garage). I shuffled things around in the garage to build a separate cart for the machines. Two issues I had: dust from working on table in the machines, and portability. My mig welder kept acting up due to all the grinding dust that found it's way into the machine. Constantly disassembling the machine to blow it out. I work in the driveway at times and dragging the machine out there is a nuisance. Much easier to roll out the cart.
