Glad to hear it was working. The reason I had asked about bending is the thought process that maybe it wasn't making contact. Sounds like it was the right train of thought, with the washers fixing it.

Just trying to lay out the reason behind the question for the next person, not saying you did anything improper.
I appreciate your input Cruzan80. Thanks

I am really glad that you found the problem, partly for you and partly because I will be reassembling the same motor in the next week or so. I've been following closely, great job.

What was your process?

I first made a copy of the “poor man’s lathe” that Jeff uses on his YouTube restoration videos. Then started with 80 grit sandpaper and a sanding block, worked up 400, switching to wet at 600 and going to 1500.

Finished with Mother’s mag polish and a coat of Butcher’s wax.

Made some progress today on the pulley rig for the counterweight.

When it’s finished I plan to put some thread lock on and fill the recesses with JB Weld for a smooth look.

All finished and waiting for my brother’s visit from Virginia to bring it home. I’ll have the counterweight installed before he gets here.

Thanks everyone for all of your help along the way.

Be well
Jeff
