Whats up gang!! I joined the forum so I could get a few ideas and some guidance on how to extend my detached one bay garage. I want to leave the existing structure because im told if I tear it down id have to build the new one 6' away from the neighbors property. If anyone can point me to a thread or have any ideas, im all ears!! Check out the pic and tell me what you think..Thanks in advance for the help!!

Welcome. So how much room do you have around that building to extend it?
Do you have any buried utilities to deal with? I would think that you could add a bay to the left and forgo the yard. I had a friend that could not remove an old house and replace it so he basically removed everything but the front wall and added 3000' on to the front wall. So can you leave one wall next to the fence and build out from there? Or two walls and build out each wall in two directions and two new walls. The place to start is your local building authority. Being told things by others are open to faults. Laws change, You may have a different building authority, or many others.

Thanks for your advice larry!! I was thinking the same thing...that I can build to the left which would give me plenty of space for another bay and then some. As far as the utilities, I dont know so I will definitely call before I dig. My next step is talking to the city to find out what the codes are, but like I said above if I do this... im going left!!

Welcome to GJ.

If you start a thread in General Discussion, you should get more responses. Take a few more pics and you'll probably get better advice too. Pictures usually help out alot here when asking questions.
