York furnace problem

Our furnace is 7 years old and now has a problem ,it will start to lite and then
stop. I have cleaned the flame sensor and checked other sensors.
If I turn the power off and back on the furnace will run okay .
It will show a fault code Rapid Red Flash ( Twinning error. incorrect 24V.
phasing . Check twinning wiring.) What do they mean by this? I checked the transformer and its showing 20 volts. could it be low voltage ?

Sounds like mine a few years back and the condensate filter for the vent blower was plugged up.

20 volts tells me you have a transformer that is bad.

That's odd , generally twinning mean two furnaces in tandem
But if you are only showing 20 volts at trans , that could be the issue.
I would at least contact a York furn rep.

2 things here.

1) Twinning doesn't necessarily mean tandom units. It means you have that option on your board. Was the control board replaced recently? Were any of the dip switches moved accidentally? This error on a single unit is generally cause by the 24volt system being out of phase (wires backwards for one reason or another)

2) could be the transformer, but I would look at the wiring. Wiring could have been suspect from the beginning and finally got to your transformer and that's why you are seeing this error now.

If you have done all you could have a tech come and look at it. Let us know his resolution. I am curious.

this is first time I've had any problems with this furnace.
The maintenance guy I work with said his was doing the same last week
and his service man told him to clean the burner, and he did and now its work
fine. So in the morning I'll try that . AND the transformer I checked was the
WRONG ONE it when to the front door bell and there is another one in the furnace and it is good. this morning I checked the thermostat and changed the
batteries and cleaned the contacts for the wires.
WHY does stuff only give you problems when the weather turn real cold or
late at night.

Same reason that your roof only leaks when it rains.......
Or your car breaks down when you are using it......

I guess you should call the repair guy for your furnace. Its always better to maintain your furnace regularly rather than paying the maintenance and service guy. Some simple tips for maintenance will help to improve the life of your furnace. The first thing to do is set your fan to automatic, this will cut down on your energy consumption and extend the life of your HVAC system fan because by setting your fan to automatic, it only runs when needed and not all the time.
Have a certified technician make routine checks on your furnace. lubricate moving parts, and ensure electrical connections are not corroded. Spending a small amount of money for routine furnace maintenance will mean no large repair bills down the road.
Check your circuit breakers to make sure all are switched to the proper positions. Look for corrosion around visible electrical connections on your furnace and A/C unit. Make sure your pilot light is lit if you are experiencing heating problems. Always change the filters on your systems according to the manufacturer’s specified intervals. All these will ensure a longer life for your furnace.

I do the maintenance on the furnace and the problem was in the thermostat.
After changing the batteries, Witch was changed last winter and removing it
from the wall and butting it back ,the furnace hasn't failed, been 48 hours.

i think you may still have a problem.
The furnace should not flash a fault code if the problem is in your thermostat.

Does your thermostat use 24vlts to power it, with battery back up? Or does your thermostat rely totally on batteries for power?

it has a 24 V. transformer
after checking stuff it have been a bad connection
it's going to be nicer the next few days and turn off cold again.
50* highs 30's lows that is nicer next week 30*s for the high
