Picked up a pretty nice Yost number 1 patternmakers vise today in great shape missing only the handle and the under bench bracket. The handle is easy enough to replace with a piece of pipe and a couple of caps but I'd like to replace the bracket as well before selling it. I made a replacement bracket for an Emmert years ago and may still have the sketch but if anyone has a picture of an original Yost bracket assembly I'd really appreciate it.

I'd like to see the replacement bracket drawing for the Emmert - I need to build one for mine.

I have a Yost apart on the floor right now, had it for a while and it's waiting to get in the parts cleaner. I'm a computer ***** , however l'll get my son to take pictures and post them, it's a 16" version pattern makers vise and all the parts are there. It will be a day or two as he is out of town right now.

Sorry for the long delay in reply. I never did find the drawing so had to reverse engineer one and did not bother to do a drawing this time . The attached pics show the final version. My first try looked a bit more like the original but I found that it did have some flex and was much harder to fabricate so I came up with this one which was easier to make and hopefully will be rigid. To avoid the problem of milling an 18 inch long slot, I made a long "U" from 3/8 square and welded a 1 1/2 long piece of 1 1/4 x 3/8 stock and drilled I with a 5/8 hole to fit the pivot stud on the vise. The under bench bracket consists of 2 pieces of the same 1 1/4 x 3/8 flat stock plus a piece of heavy wall tube about 1 1/4 OD with a 1/2 inch ID that I drilled to 5/8. The base is 8 inches long with 1/2 inch holes 1 inch from each end. The "V" shaped piece started out 10 inches long and was bent to match the OD of the tubing and was welded to the base. I then welded the tube "boss" to the "V". This was intended to fit my Yost but a friend needed one for his Emmert so I made 2 at the same time. I'll let you know how it works on Rons vise.

Thanks for the explanation Joe. I’ll look forward to hearing how it performs.
