Hi guys. I can stand anymore and want to know the story of the « GEM » and « THE GEM » marked on my yost vises. Posted this question on 2 others thread but drown quickly. Just a member had well mentioned that was probably a comparison to a gem precious stone. I was satisfacted with that but noticed today the little brother 805 model had just « THE GM » marked !? I can imagine they delete the E letter due to the space restriction so thanks in advance to the yost fans.
Unfortunately no price for the contest winner, you are too far away for a fresh drink.

Probably the model name/line is called GEM, or THE GEM. Just like one of the Prentiss lines was BULLDOG. Or GYPSIE.

That's just a coincidence. Full name of the company was The G. M. Yost Manufacturing Company, named after the founder and chairman Mr. G. M. Yost. I don't know what the G. and M. stand for, but those are the first initials of his given and middle names.

Or, maybe Mr G. M. Yost had another given name beginning with 'E' between the other 2 given names so his full name had 3 initials. Like, for example, Mr Giles Edward Martin Yost.
