You search the Craigslist where friends and relatives live... You research the good spots near where you are going to visit to bring back a "souvenir" of the trip.

Your wife makes you a birthday day in the exact shape of an SO tool box frosted with icing in exactly the correct color.

(no, she did not bake it with working drawers)

From the time you buy something in the Classifieds to the time you receive it, you keep clicking on the ad just to see it.

You visit the Victoria and Albert museum in London and bring back a picture of a toolbox.

You overhear the employees at Sears or Home Depot answer a question from another customer and wince.

You have a Machinist chest on your dresser, another in the garage, another at work, and you're not a machinist.

People give you cool old tools.

Your toolbox is worth more than your car.

The craigslist tool section is the most visited site on your browser.

You've fitted a screwdriver handle onto a ratchet.

This thread causes you joy mixed slight anxiety about how true it is.

Your son is going on a field trip to help other people for the group (habitat for humanity),and one of the little girls (around age 14) asks where do you want me to put this "SAW THINGY" you wince in pain as she is referring to that miter saw she is dragging through the mud.

Then you realize it is 6 am in the morning and you are typing out this message on your favorite tool board on a Sunday morning, when you could have gotten more sleep!

My wife did that once!

when you tell your wife your next tool box from Snap-on will cost $40,000 and its the biggest and baddest one that they make with all the bells and whistles!

Or when you go Disney with the kids and the best part is taking pictures in the fast trak ride of all the Snap on and GM tools!

You go to Chino Airshow & during a break you go into the museums workshop & take pictures of their vises (which I posted on here)

You go to Universal Studios & ask of you can see the inside of their machine shop... (the rat bastards said no)

You keep buying used hard handle snap on screwdrivers even though you have more than you'll ever need.

when you stub your big toe on a parx 7/8 wrench in the pile of tools next to you bed. It's there on the floor because you got a deal on a half of 5 gallon bucket of Snap On and other tools of 20.00$ And have no room to put them?

Been 3 or 4 times now some random person has come up to me at Lowes and asked for help with something or what aisle something is at. "Uh I don't work here but I can probably help".

Guess I am there so often and they have seen me several times they assumed I was a worker :eyecrazy::lol_hitti

I know most of the workers so know me by name at this point :pimpflash

Some of you guys have some SERIOUS hoarder issues!

I buy a couple tools here and there through the year, but that's about it. If it has no use to me I don't buy or if I end up with it I get rid of it.

Funny cause that's what I do when they tell me how much that tool truck tool cost compared to my Craftsman on which is still getting the job done just fine

...you snicker, laugh, and poke fun of your friends that have Craftsman, HF, and other Chinese tools as you gloat about your newest tool truck brand purchase.

-You count down the days that the tool truck comes.

- You make a big tool purchase knowing you are in debt.

- The first website you visit is garage journal and you are on it for hours

When you see a mechanic and say: "I wonder what name brand tools he uses?"

When you see a tool box and just want to go through the drawers to see what kind of tools are them.

You can't go to the store (Northern, Sears, etc.) and find anything you don't already have more than one of. I have not upgraded my Sawsall and several other tools to the newer style tool less blade change style. Does that alone mean that I can be cured. I do go after any new catalogs I can find. Love the cards in magazines that you check off what you want new catalogs for, the internet in all its glory does not replace the catalog while on the throne. (my bathroom has a bookcase floor to ceiling four foot wide and the floor has a stack about 10 inches high)

Well, about two weeks ago, just for fun, I went through my boxes and decided to see how many options I had to turn a 1/2" bolt head. I only counted tools (sockets, wrenches, etc.) that were specifically made to turn 1/2" fasteners. I counted 37 different tools. I'm about the same for most other metric and SAE sizes. Am I an addict? I think I'm just well prepared.......

The background on your phone AND computer is of tools or toolboxes.

The neighbors frequently ask if you will ever use all that "stuff"

You forget you already own a tool and buy another one (or 5)

- That you check the CL tool listings for your area EVERY night, before going to bed.

- That you check the Ebay listings for your favorite brands EVERY night, before going to bed.

- That you know the catalog for your favorite tool store better than most of the sales people do. (the sales person tells you they don't sell 'tool x,' but you know for a fact they do.

- You carry the coupons for the tool store in your wallet, just in case you happen to stop in.

- You are a regular contributor (with pictures) to this madness, called GJ.

You feel a sharp pain in your chest, followed by nausea when you cannot find your favorite 3/8" Snap-On ratchet and if you do not find it, are inconsolable until you acquire a new one.....
I have actually had this happen.

I know I'm bad as I can relate to almost everyone.

You do know your a tool addict when you buy your kitchen knives off of the Snap-On truck!

You buy a multi-bit screwdriver for your wife for in the house off the truck that is pink and says Momma's tools on it. Brownie points for me!

Mm

I can related to all that have been mentioned so far and these, too....

[] When your garage is larger than your house, at your wife's urging.
[] When you spend the 4th of July going to buy a lift, and the wife drives the entire 180 mile round trip. (true story).
[] when your home shop is better equipped than many repair shops in town
[] when you have a tool truck guy, and you aren't in the repair biz.
[] when your wife wants your tool list each Christmas for Santa (mine gets a spreadsheet with various price points to fit her budget).
[] When your Griot's Garage catalog comes in your wife's name: (At least one Christmas gift every year since 1992).
[] When you buy your own Christmas presents (because it was a fantastic deal) and let your wife wrap them and put them under the tree). It helps to "act" surprised at her thoughtfulness.
[] When your wife is a great sport about your addiction and glad that you only have a tool addiction..I love to kid her that she is enabling me.

Been there, done all of these. I guess I'm guilty...
