I can't tell you how many times I have confused people by telling them what tool I am looking for, or that someone ELSE is looking for.
IE someone comes into a store, in the isle your "browsing" (drooling) and asks for socket/wrenches, and the salesperson has no idea they are describing saltus wrenches.
You ask for Wilemar (spelling) ear style clamp pliers, or otiker clamp pliers, and the tool sellers look at you funny. (and you think that Otiker might make a good dogs name)
You know what a stillson wrench is.

You get approached by the regional manager of a large tool company, trying to get you to go into debt to become a salesman, because you know the tools better then your salesman.

You identify tools (brand and type) in any tv show you watch (or movie).

I also found a 3" 3/8 drive extension and a 3/8" drive spark plug socket on different roads on different occasions. The spark plug socket still had a spark plug in it.

Ironman 2 I was identifying tools left and right.
It's not typically a movie I would watch but I went with a friend and his parents, the tools kept me interested. Lincoln welders, Empire level, Ridgid aluminum pipe wrench.

When you don't go to school on the day the Snap-On guy comes. Or when you make your sister take the shortcuts across town, to catch the matco guy after school. I'm guilty of many of the posts above.

when your best friend keeps telling you that if you didn't buy so many tools you might be able to fix your hot rod.

you justify your tool purchasing as investing in yourself and saving money on repairs.

yup thats my story and im sticking to it.

When you wake up in the morning, and remember your dreams. You were walking through a field, a lawn, or a dirt floor shed, and you see something shiney, you dig with your hands, and find a socket, then more, some wrenches, just dirty, no rust, you keep on finding tools, until you wake up!

When you purposely break tools to warranty/buy new ones :)

Your time on the toliet goes from 5 min to 20 min because there is a snap on/matco catalog next to the dumper

... your hardware shop owner provides you with a free entrance ticket  to the 'INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE 2012'.

... ending up in his very zippy debadged sleeper AUDI S4 station wagon  together with one of his employees being taken back and forth to visit the show together.

What a hell of a great way to spend a Sunday, ending up having 'KOELSCH' in the Cologne Altstadt !!!

... that didn't ****.

...the sun's coming up & you're still on the internet with your list, trying to satisfy God knows how many variables, juggling this & that vendor's prices/shipping rates etc.

You check the UPS/FedEx tracking info 6 times a day.

Your working buddies openly ridicule you for spending so much on tools, but when they're working on a job & it goes south.....

Or when you go Disney with the kids and the best part is taking pictures in the fast trak ride of all the Snap on and GM tools!

Yeah I did that.

But Disney got Mac Tools to give them a pile of toolboxes. Only Snap-On boxes I saw had had their brand logos removed. Was a smaller Heritage series KRA box and an older KRL 54" wide box.

When you are supposed to be at work at 11 A.M. on Saturday...so you leave the house at 6:30 for a 14 mile commute with a list of garage sales on a clipboard on the front seat and an empty trunk.
You make a bundling deal on 7 tools even though you already have 2 of them, no use for 3 of them and don't really know what 2 of them do but one has Ford script on it and the other has a cast iron handle and 3 sharp edges (turns out it is a shingle remover).

And your late for work!

When you already have dibs on your older relatives tools

When you're constantly browsing through tool forums for something to comment on about tools

you have no idea how many ( insert tool here) you have.
Along the same thought
you purchase a new tool only to find out you already own two

Does EDC toolbox make you a tool addict?
You know, similar to first aid kits, dozen knives and guns that survival preppers carry?

Perhaps when your wife's answer to every treasure you bring home and excitedly explain all the wonders and virtues is, "You need help." :(

Guilty, and I live 3500 miles away across the atlantic ocean

And I made the mistake of trying to buy some Bourbon in an Orlando Walmart, when I asked "where are the spirits please" the Walmart guy looked at me as if I was a Ghostbuster or something :scared:
