Real Rednecks don’t have kayaks

A buddy moved back south in the ‘70’s. He came back with a new kayak diving an MG with an ascot. He quickly felt out of place.

Welded a 3' piece of 1" rigid electrical conduit (basically, schedule 40 pipe) to an 8 lb. double-jack (sledge hammer) head, used it for various things for a couple of years, handed it to an apprentice to drive an 8' ground rod and about 10 minutes later, he comes back and it's in 2 pieces........

Not sure which one of us is the redneck but just exactly how does one manage to break stuff like this?

In a previous life, many, many moons ago, I had my '73 H2 750 triple based drag bike stored in the dining room over the winter.
I put a new clutch in it and had to test it, so I brought in a 2'x2' concrete pad and did a burnout.
Or 3, or 4.
The new clutch was great!

That was 40 years ago, but I'll bet you can still smell 2 stroke oil and tire smoke inside that house!

Back in the early 90’s, I had the rather genius idea to rebuild the carb for my ‘68 GMC in my apartment. At some point during the night, my girlfriend went stumbling to the kitchen without her glasses on, and kicked the can of the original “green death” Berryman Chem-dip , right on the carpeted kitchen floor. Probably wasn’t even a teaspoon of liquid on the floor, but after 3 years that place still smelled like carb dip.

Funny thing was when I moved out, the landlord commented on how clean the place smelled and gave me my entire deposit back.

Don't bake paint on headers in the oven,ask me how I know!
I've tossed more than 1 kawasaki block in the oven the years to remove/install sleeves.

We have an old vacuflo in the garage with a non-electrified hose. A few months ago my wife was vacuuming her car out and then bitched about the hose getting her white jeans dirty (duh).
Anyways I tried scrubbing the hose clean and after a couple feet I decided to put it in the washing machine. That didn't work very well at all and I had to run the washer through the clean cycle three times.
She is still mad about that.

I rebuilt a Borg Warner T-10 in my parents dining room late one night. Years later at Thanksgiving my Dad asked what the star shaped mark (output shaft imprint) was in the seat of his chair.

Had a friend that built and refreshed his midget race engines in the living room while watching TV. The whole living room was covered in 4 or 6 mil clear plastic to protect the carpet from spills.

That would have downgraded his truck to ride like a late 80s early 90s BMW 3 Series. Most uncomfortable car I've ridden in, except maybe the Subaru pumpkin. Seats like milk crates..

A friend used an 18" pipe wrench to tighten the nut of his trailer ball. After the nut was tight, he welded the pipe wrench to the nut. This served two purposes. Positioning the wrench just right before welding, he made himself a step to get into the bed of his truck. The second purpose is to keep people from tailgating.

I got pulled over hauling a load of tree branches to the dump in a 49 Chevy dump truck while sitting on a milk crate,many years ago.
Looking like a 6 wheeled duck blind with a really tired 6 cyl.
I seem to remember the cop saying something along the lines of: I know this thing might not of came with mirrors on it,but I'm pretty sure the mf'ing thing came with a seat! Hahaha

When in high schooI, put a ring gearing Mom's oven and set it to 550. After It heated up, I put on My welding gloves and slipped it on to the flywheel of a Farmall super A tractor.
Another time I used Her oven to dry out some 7018 welding rods.

BTW, Simple Green works really well on a clean up wash cycle with hot water in the clothes washer.
